Re: The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Suzuki Swift ZDi (Torque Blue) - 30K kms up!

Did a quick visit to 3M for a regular Foam wash and also to discuss on the further process of detailing for the car as it is almost an year since the last treatment that was done on the car.

Thinking between 'Power Shine treatment' v/s 'Paint Sealant Advanced treatment'.

Yet to know the clear difference between the two treatments but they cost 4.1K and 5.2K respectively taking 4-6 hours of working time.

In thinking process as to which treatment is needed to be done, shall be visiting 3M by the weekend to complete it.

Have you taken the car to 3M? What have you decided between 'Power Shine treatment' v/s 'Paint Sealant Advanced treatment'? Did you find any difference after your visit to 3M?

Hey Anurag

I loved the picture above taken from the tarmac level.

I see you normally get 21-22kmpl in your Swift.

All in all between Swift and Ertiga which car would you take if you were to go on a 2000 kms road trip?

Cheers
Rajain

Thank you sir!

FE isn't a bother as it is a mix of 45% city 55% highway with 100 kms a day.

Between the Swift and Ertiga: what a difficult question!

--- If it was me alone on the trip then the Swift it is! No doubt.

--- If the luggage and space is at stake, Ertiga it is.

Meanwhile this happened:

Name: ForumRunner_20150118_074854.png
Views: 2597
Size: 426.0 KB

No updates as such, it is just clocking miles happily without any hiccup! [Touch wood].

Getting an average FE between 21.7 - 22.0 kmpl whereas MID says 22.2 - 22.3 kmpl with 15% A/C usage.

Power shine -

Exterior Wash
Cleaning wheel arches
Interior Vaccum
Dashboard cleaning
Boot cleaning
Engine bay cleaning
Tyre dressing
And most importantly - Body polish with 3M paste wax.

Paint Sealant Treatment

Exterior Clay Wiping and Tar Removal
Compounding
Polishing
3M paint sealant application

Bumper dressing
Tyres cleaning
Glass cleaning
Vaccuming

IMO, go for the paint sealant program. Swirls wont be removed by just applying paste wax on top of the existing finish as in the powershine program. You can always get Meguairs Tech Wax from them and do that at home.

Thanks CD for the details on the treatments.

Sad part is I have been trying from past 3 weeks and all I get to hear is "No free bay to do the treatment Sir! Can you please call next week?!"

I am now tired listening to this. Hence looking for another detailer to do this job on my Blue Streak.

Re: The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Suzuki Swift ZDi (Torque Blue) - 30K kms up!

35000 kms Update:

The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Swift ZDi (Torque Blue). 1,20,000 km up & now sold-20150121_155400.jpg

Car is running fine as usual. Nothing special to report though.

Shall be getting the clutch plate checked once for the vibrations that I feel between 1900-2100 RPM band. Many other owners too are facing the same. More details can be found here: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...ml#post3497264

This is the only niggle that I am facing currently other than all is well.

Shall update the thread ASAP!

SMALL UPDATE:

Cross posting from the Foot/Air pump thread

Quote:
What: Need a 12V tyre inflator.

Budget: Rs 1000 maximum.

Usage: For regular top-up's and in case of emergency and I do have a bike + cycle at home so will be helpful for them too.

What I Found:

Manufacturer: Coido
Model: 3326

Specifications:

Max Output: 300 psi (Read out on the pressure gauge)
Input Voltage: 12V
Power Cord Length: 3 meters
Inflator cord length: 1 meter
A flasher and a light too provided for night time help
A ON/OFF switch for the compressor.

Verdict: Does its job without any great drama. I recommend this if it is mainly used for top-up's as the time taken would be long to fill in air from a flat.

Last but not the least, do buy a set of ear plugs too. Makes hell a lot of racket!

CAUTION: Keep the cars engine running during usage of the inflator to preserve the car battery.

Updates from my end in due course of time: Shall see how long it takes to fill to 32 psi on a flat tyre. Not going to rely on the pressure gauge given on this unit though. Have bought a separate pressure gauge already.

Nothing much on the car front, clocking miles happily currently at 37111 kms.
