No. I booked diesel AT on 11th September and waiting period mentioned was 11 months. I changed to petrol AT on 24th October and got the call that vehicle has been dispatched against my booking on 27th October!! However, dealer mentioned 10-12 weeks when i was changing to Petrol. 8 months for petrol is definitely on very higher side. Whatever I have observed based on inputs from fellow forum members, petrol AT deliveries have been much faster than diesel.

I too have fair amount of free play and it is considerable loose compared to the free play on my previous cars.
Will get it checked during my first service due this coming week.
Although I have got accustomed with the free play after daily driving my Thar.

Waiting period for petrol models of the Thar is in the range of 1-2 months. Higher waiting periods are being quoted by dealers to garner more bookings.

This is an UK firm and Arka Motor Sports(owned by former national rally champ N.Leelakrishnan)is the importer and supplier. Guess the team at Arka has been testing and working on this since the Thar production vehicle was available. I'm in touch with their guy in Bangalore and would soon be test driving their Thar fitted with this suspension. Keenly awaiting your feedback post installation. This is something which i've in mind for my Thar too as and when it gets delivered, God knows when

Yes, their testing is in progress on Leela's own Thar and he offered me a good drive, as he is planning to come to Hyderabad soon in his Thar. I'm also keenly looking for AVO's fit and comfort for Thar.

One question to those who have upgraded their audio by installing an amplifier.

How did you take the connection from ignition to amplifier? Is there any way without slicing/ peeling the stock wire?

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Does anyone have an aftermarket rear camera fitment? if yes, can you please share a wiring diagram and a few images on how to integrate any camera with the default factory head unit? TIA

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Guys, Can the DPF regeneration process causes burning smell of rubber from the car? I am noticing a burning rubber smell some times when I park the car after coming back from a fairly short trips. I have been experiencing this for the second time now after getting my new Thar almost 3 weeks back. Is this a cause of concern or just the DPF doing its job?

I expecting a test drive soon too, fingers crossed. The biggest drawback with Thar I find is Ride quality and composure on uneven surfaces, while it absorbs the bad patches but is never settled. If this solves it some extent I am all game for getting Avo suspension installed.

Will be heading to my dealer friend in Meerut sometime next week. Will give you a call. Hoping for a similar result. That it settles down, and that jerk from the rear suspension is ironed out.
I think Speedsport is also the dealer for this suspension.

Please put it for thorough test if you get a chance especially some off-roading where rear wheel articulation is also tested to ensure the current capabilities are uncompromised.

Finally, I have mastered the art of opening the convertible top seamlessly [essentially, the way to unlatch is to not just flick the latch open but to handhold it till the very last second!]

Hoping to master the art of closing it as well in the next few days — the rear shoulder part isn’t fitting in well while closing; not sure what’s the reason. Do you guys normally also remove the rear window part while opening the convertible top? I have not been. But some of the YT videos have recommended that.

Mahindra Thar digital fuel meter inaccuracy

Picked up my Mahindra Thar LX P MT HT Napoli Black on the 23rd of October from Jorhat, Assam. I am from Nagaland but since waiting period for the new Thar is still 7-9months in all our dealerships, I reached out to Jorhat and they were able to arrange one in my desired specification within 2 weeks of booking one.

After a successful delivery, I came back to my home place, doing my daily roundabouts and I started noticing my digital fuel gauge along with DTE(distance to empty) was very inaccurate. An example being, on startup, my dash reads DTE 180kms, a couple minutes later it will read 260kms, and later 107kms. This along with the fuel level digital meter is always fluctuating. It once showed fully empty with 0 DTE but a minute later it had a DTE of 127kms. And also I have noticed that when I buy petrol, even if my windows are shut and there’s no way for any kind of fume to get in the cabin, I get a smell of Petrol a minute or two after I leave the station. Has anyone here ever faced this with their new Thar? Any sort of help/explanation will be much appreciated.

The car has now done 711kms with an AFE of 7.5km/l

I will be going to my local dealership with my issues, but I want to know all your opinions on these issues that I have with my Thar.

Thank you for the update. I will be visiting the dealer again after Diwali. It's definitely fun to drive & it's worth to wait..
