I recommend you dont change bulbs to avoid any warranty complications
Thank you! Will check them out..

Is the Ceramic Coating for the Safari Dark worth it? If so, should we do it prior to delivery through the dealer (Key Motors, Bangalore)? They said they do it through 3M.

I was in similar situation, but then decided against it. since none of the dealers will give you guarantee against swirl marks. Instead i thought i will take some care by the following:
- use jopasu duster to dust off
- then use microfiber cloth to clean and wash(if needed)

2 months on, i seem to be doing fine. I guess i will carry on like this for a year or say at least and then go for an yearly detailing session. Would be much cheaper.

It depends on your usage - mine is predominantly highway so opted out, but if you are a city user then it helps keeps the nicks and ticks in control!

if you decide to go ahead, suggest you get it done outside the dealer!

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Thank you so much, @revved_up and @AirWind! Will certainly mull on what you've suggested. Can I please know the following:-
I've booked the Safari Dark. Does the shine of the vehicle increase significantly after the Ceramic Coating?

However, SA was initially confident to deliver the vehicle in March 2022 itself but that didn't happened.
.
Thank you so much for response, as of now dealer is confident that he will get allocation confirmation before end of May itself (as per him they are top dealers in western zone and have good connects with TAMO). My only wish I get car before my kids summer vacations end so that can make a quick long trips.

It might help avoid the swirl marks, which gets amplified with dark colors, mine is the tropical mist so it doesn't matter.

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Hello All,

In continuation to my post earlier here (2021 Tata Safari Review)

I got a chance to drive my Safari Dark for a small trip (~150km) and the SUV continues to impress me every bit.

The ride was butter smooth, turned lot of heads, created its own path everywhere. The real fun was driving at normal speeds and enjoying all the attention it was garnering.

I decided for few updates as discussed earlier in my threads.

Some updates and reasons behind them are listed here.
NOTE: I am in no way associated with any of the brands or workshops listed here and sharing purely for forum knowledge purpose:

1. Dashcam: 70Mai 300

I wanted something simple and least intrusive in the cabin.
Earlier, I had used Mi Dashcam in the my Honda but had issues connecting on my iPhone.
Hence, decided for 70Mai which had decent specs to fulfill my needs.
Online and offline there are not many options and checking our Team-BHP forum found this to be best option.

Dashcam:

2. Foot mats: Galio GFX mats

I found that 7D mats had their own charm but somehow they had some weird chemical smell and hence it put me off.
I checked GFX mats in person at local store and found them to be non-smelly and easy to use & maintain. They are indeed turning out to be best decision.

3. Partial Ceramic & PPF: 3D Ceramic & Garware TPU PPF from local workshop - Moto Moto Works, Pune

Ceramic and PPF was my most researched topic.
Based on my previous cars experience, I decided to go for full front PPF (Bonnet, Fenders, front bumper) apart from this I got standard 14points (4 door cups, 4 door sills, 2 rear view mirrors, 4 bumper corners) PPF done.
The PPF provider obliged to my last minute request to add PPF to some of the glossy plastic parts at no additional cost.
For rest of the body, 3D brand Ceramic was used.
For glass areas, 3D brand co-polymers was used.

3D Brand ceramic product used:

3D Nitro for Glass:

3D Co-polymer application process:

PPF on glossy plastic panels on pillars:

PPF on door edges: I didn't like these personally and will get them removed after sometime.

PPF on folding mirrors:

Ceramic on rest of the body:

Blue sparkle in black color: This makes it look navy blue in bright sunlight.

4. Underbody coat:

Everyone suggested as not required but when the car was put on ramp we found patchy work in underbody coat by Tata.
Hence, I decided to get another layer added to additional protection.

Underbody coat:

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

1 year / 15000 service done at Sagar Motors, Noida

My car celebrated its first birthday on 21st April and to treat it, I scheduled for the service at Sagar Motors, Sec-5, Noida. I thought of writing a post to recount my experience and what was done in the service so that it can help the fellow owners –
I reached at 9.08 AM and there was already a long line of cars waiting outside the service center but in another 15-20 minutes, I was able to get the car inside the center and hand over the keys (had to get down once in the middle to ask a person to not enter the line in-between but rather get to the end of the queue..not sure why people do that).

An SA was allocated to me and he promptly opened a job card asking me what all problems I have faced and want them to fix. He knew his job well and was courteous. He took the car in and handed over to the floor technicians for the service schedule.

Work Done -

Quoting below the work undertaken / parts changed and their roundabout prices –
  • Engine Oil – 5 Ltr – 4950/-
  • Oil Filter – 900/-
  • Fuel Filter – 2960/-
  • AC Pollen Filter – 540/-
  • DEF – 8 Ltr – 1250/-
  • Alignment – 600/-
  • Balancing – 500/-
  • Wheel Weight – 420/-
  • Start/Stop Switch – most of the paint on the switch was gone and so I asked it to be replaced in warranty and SA happily agreed. Costs around 1700 + labour
  • Brake Pads – On removing the front wheels, the front brakes were completely covered in Carbon. Technician removed the brake pads and showed it to Service Manager. It was changed under warranty free of charge. Looks like there is some circular from Tata on this based on the brake pad conditions and km driven. Also heard a rumour (not sure how true) that there is some change in material on the new brake pads and so they may last longer. Generally costs around 8500/-
  • Some oils were topped up
  • The plastic cover under the driver’s seat came loose in one of my recent trips and it was promptly fixed.
  • There was an issue with one the belt slots in the rear seat, where the slot used to go down and seat belt could not be put was fixed. This has been there since the delivery of the car and I was assured that this time it has been fixed properly.
  • Battery checking was missed but when I reminded, they promptly checked and confirmed that all is okay.

Experience –
  • SA Gaurav Kumar was very helpful and courteous. He helped a lot in moving the car fast through the whole routine and made sure that all checks were done.
  • Floor Service Manager Satvinder Singh was extremely knowledgeable and knew what he was doing. He managed the things well on the floor.
  • Post wheel alignment which was the last thing that was done on the car, the alignment person took the car out to drive and checked that the alignment is okay, which I think is a good process. I was allowed to accompany him.
  • After that the car was pushed into the washing line. Everything was going on well till that time but that’s when the trouble started.
  • The machine that used to wash the cars was not working and the workers were doing it all by hand. They used pressurized water to clear the dirt and one person quickly shampooed the car for which he took less than 2 minutes. Post that the car was washed again with pressurized water and then 10 more people took over to clean it from inside out. But the result was extremely bad. I went on a trip to Dehradun recently and the whole of the front of the car was marked with black spots (poor insects that met their end by taking a fast moving car head-on). The washing could not remove any of the black spots because no-one bothered about it.
  • After SA Gaurav showed the car to me for delivery, I complained about multiple things –
    1. Very visible black spots all over on the large white bonnet
    2. Mechanics / cleaning guys dirt hand prints left all over the inside of the car – seats / doors / dashboard
    3. Chrome of the car was not cleaned at all and looked all rusty
  • SA immediately started asking the cleaning guys / supervisor to look and fix the issues, but they only made a very half hearted attempt. I could feel as if the cleaning guys were not bothered at all. SA even suggested that he can try to get the black spots removed by using petrol but I wasn’t sure if that could damage the paint and so I stopped.
  • I understood then that cleaning is not something that this Service centre takes seriously and so I made my mind to get the car thoroughly cleaned inside out from some other detailing shop and left the service center as is.

So overall a mixed experience. 90% of the work was done well but the 10% work on cleaning which was right at the end, left a bad impression and a sour taste in the mouth. This is something that the service center should address. I am hoping to pass the feedback to them.

Sorry for a long post and unnecessary ranting but was just trying to share my experience and something that may be useful to other owners too.

Happy that they are taking up the brake pad issue seriously and doing the replacement under warranty.

I feel the washing SC does is a normal wash, not the detailed one. You may need detailed cleaning with special cleaning agents to remove those black spots of tar and others. Even the detailing studios charge separately for these kind of cleaning. So better to get this done from specialist rather than getting it done from SC.

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

With Harrier getting color options from Safari (Tropical Mist & Royale Blue) now, hope to see Safari getting Calypso Red option from the Harrier. That will be one hot looking SUV.

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Received call from dealer and got confirmation that i will receive price protection on ex-showroom price. Also is there any booking number generated and shared with buyer once updated in TAMO system? I am yet to receive any mail on booking number but i have receipt of my payement to dealer. Somehow i have feeling dealer might have delayed updating my booking in TAMO system.

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Good morning Friends! Am back with a request for some suggestions..

1. How much easier it is to clean a car of dust etc if it has a Ceramic Coating?

2. What are the cleaning appliances (Cloth, Duster, 'Lotion' etc and what brands) that it's advisable to keep?

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Also, I'll be going for the PDI today (Safari Dark). Is it justified to pay the full amount to the dealer after the PDI, so that he can go for the RTO etc?

Thank you!
