I noticed few comparisons on YouTube with Fortuner as well.

Have you seen/driven both? Most people find 3rd row, ride comfort better in safari.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

According to this portal, XUV700 has a waiting period of 7 months. Not sure how did they arrive at this number.

Those who had booked on 7th October (among the initial 25000 bookings) and haven't got a delivery date yet, is there a still chance of getting the delivery in December (based on the variant)? I know things may be clear after 25th November but does anyone has inside info?

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

As it always happens with any product that is in high demand, scams and spam's have started to originate. Mahindra should have done better then to leak the prospect buyers database to their dealers.

Mahindra XUV700 Review-xuv.jpg

The CC list is at least 100 email address and the idiot at the dealership doesn't even know when to use BCC instead of CC. Now I'm not sure how a Mahindra dealership in Haryana got my email address as I live in Jaipur and did not at any point in time contact them. But other replies also suggests and confirms that they are all actual customers who booked XUV700 at some point including myself.

I would recommend staying clear of these mails as it might be a scam to get the initial booking amount and lure customers into a readily available vehicle etc.

With all connected features and data sharing about driving patterns and locations, we can already forget any privacy looking at this.

As per Mahindra, they will deliver 14000 vehicles by mid of Jan. So even for those who booked on 7th October, the wait times can extend all the way to feb-march especially for diesel variants. I booked diesel variant after 8th October and as per my dealer I will have to wait till next Diwali !!

Yes, I have driven both the cars. That too in a day’s time gap. I found Safari to be better in terms of the following
1. Third row comfort and flexibility of middle row sliding
2. Engine and gearbox combo - I find that the gearbox keeps the engine in the sweet spot most of the time
3. NVH levels
4. Luxury old school interiors

I’m terribly confused now. I recommend everyone confused to take a proper test drive of both cars before spending. Never know what you might like.

Isnt 5 star safety the biggest advantage of XUV over Safari? Let TaMo prove their mettle before they ask 27 big ones.

I was in the same boat but my confusion ended the day GNCAP results of XUV700 came in.

I personally just can't think of spending around 25-30L on a car which is not safety tested and more so in case of comparison with Safari coming from Tata who boasts of 5 star rated cars in one or two segment below, which obviously means they are intentionally not getting the harrier twins tested and TATA knows they have safety problems with these twins.

Thanks for the big scoop ram87pune ! TataMotors got this big responsibility to bag a 5 star rating for their current flagships cant escape from it , as all of their current line up and the ones who were kicked out of production recently were minimum 4 star rated cars.

Coming to mahindra engineers and their analysis, I respect their efforts on previous gen XUV's ANCAP ratings, the recent 5 star on GNCAP with the new one and all their recent good scores but can't stop from asking them what were they doing while developing the current gen SCORPIO and collapse at the same GNCAP test with crumbling cabin?

Not at all defending Mahindra, and the current gen Scorpio is not my favourite at all.

But it was designed in the early 2000s, when Mahindra was still learning how to properly make a closed steel body vehicle. While I don't think it would score well even with the new platform it received in the mid 2010s, I read somewhere that the crash tested base variant was the m2di engined one which was still based on the old platform.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I think India is perhaps the only large automotive market in the world which takes "waiting list" and wears like like a crown of achievement. Cars are a commodity, especially the ones we are discussing. We are not talking bespoke RRs or Maybachs. None of the cars deserves a waiting beyond the ordinary logistical constraints of one or two weeks. If manufacturers cannot anticipate the demand, it should be to their detriment, not the other way round !

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

The tracking page has finally been updated for me today (20th November, 2021). Earlier (till yesterday), it was stuck at "Booking Complete" and now it's moved to "Order Processed". The delivery date on the website now shows - "25th December - 1st Jan, 2022". Seeing the delivery date makes me happy because this might mean I'll get the car next year, but then the SMS that I received from them said, 7th December, 2021 - so I'm confused. I hope Mahindra follows the website delivery date instead of the SMS date. Getting the new car in the new year of 2022 would be excellent, plus would help with resale as well further down the line. Fingers crossed.

On a side note, I called up the dealer to ask whether they had any information regarding Diesel deliveries and they said that it was slated to start by November last week or December first week. Also asked how long it takes the car to reach our neck of the woods and the Sales Executive told that - If the cars would be shipped by Train, then they would reach the dealership in 4-5 days and if the cars would be shipped by road, then they would reach in 7-8 days. He also told me that out of the total 300 bookings made at their dealership, only 30 have gotten delivery dates (mine being one of them). The 30 confirmed delivery dates include both Petrol (whose deliveries have already started and quite a number of people have gotten it) and Diesel mills.

Same story here as well. Booked the AX 7 D AT AWD through PPS Automotive in Bangalore. Initial CPD was 7th Dec. Walked into the showroom on Monday to enquire if they had any clue of my booking as the Sales Manager who placed the order quit the job. Was glad to see the file with the same order number, however the sales executive had NO clue whatsoever about what was happening. Took the number of their GM sales, called him couple of times, no response.

2 days back when I was checking the status on Mahindra website, was baffled to see the delivery date was moved and now it mentioned delivery between 30th Dec and 6th Jan. M&M did not even have courtesy to send an email, sms or call. I think this was pre-planned. Take as much bookings as possible, and then keep pushing the dates further and further.

Sales executive claimed they have around 500 bookings, so this could be a win-win situation for dealer and manufacturer. M&M gets to wear the pride crown of 65k+ bookings and the dealers sitting on booking amounts without breaking a sweat. Only the one who has booked is under pressure, dialing numbers and checking updates online or emails every now and then.

Very very annoyed.
