Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Taking delivery of my ZX without TSS (extremely long wait with TSS) Blackish Ageha in this week. Of the all, the 43% KA tax is hard hitting. Of this, 15% compensation tax is added which I am not sure why and is added irrespective of the vehicle type it seems.

Sold my 2012 Innova V diesel, 135k kms to make way for this beast. Got a great resale.

Yes it is the same Retrofit Octa Q headlights.

They are any given day better and are superior with throw and brightness than the factory installed lights. Even if an oncoming vehicle has its upper lights on we have proper visibility on the road. I tried to post the videos but somehow couldn’t.

These were recorded on my mobile, please excuse for the audio. The headlights cost around 60k with 4 bi-led headlights on each side. And the Tri colour Azoom fog lights costs Around 18k.

I find your headlight setup and upgrade to be perfect over stock one which I will also do in future.
I have a couple of questions regarding the setup to try to answer if possible:

1. Is there any warranty on Octa Q headlights?

2. Every time we turn the headlights on these animations/dances will happen or it is customizable?

3. how is the performance of Azoom foglamps, is changing foglamps alone to Azoom one or another high-end one enough to make a difference?

4. Is this all done on stock headlight wiring and fuses or do we need to change those?

5. How it will affect the car warranty?

Hi
Definitely it’s quite a huge difference over the stock or even I can say I haven’t seen such spread and throw of lights on any other cars.

1: 1 year warranty is there for octa q

2: sadly I also had asked about the same but the matrix will stay

3: Azoom Fog lamps are also quite bright or I can say they perform same as our previous headlights.

4: It’s coupler to coupler no wire cutting has been done.

5: well as no wire cutting has been done I don’t think any warranty issues would be there.

I had given my hycross for 10 k service after all the mods they were no remarks so hope everything is fine

I couldn’t go personally, so I sent my driver for the installation, and it turned out great!
Could you pls share details about this, and pics if possible? Sounds very promising.

Is it done by Ramie from Mumbai? Did meet him once long back and he is a great and helpful person.

How was the costing of the audio setup?

Ramiee is well known in this audio field and has a deep knowledge and knows what his client requires.

The total cost was more or less than 200K

Welcome to KA's insane road taxes. Try the BH regn route.

In your test drives do you miss the torque which was present in the Innova Diesel in the Hycross?

Does it impact the Ground Clearance in any way?

Yes, but not the side step itself, the motor. I’m not sure how much, but it does.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Is the battery fan supposed to switch on during low temperature conditions too. I dont hear the fan switch on since last 2-3 days(delhi winters). Anyone else seeing this pattern. Earlier the fan used to switch on at high blast as soon as the vehicle was started but the ambient temperatures were always over 25c then, right now it is 13-19c.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

I recently visited a dealership in Bangalore and they had only had the top spec Hybrid variant for TD. Took a TD of around 10 kms. The space and comfort in all three rows is just amazing and something that I have not come across in other vehicles, especially 3rd row. Manoeuvring within the city is easy, for my wife too.

I went just before dusk and could not test the headlight. However, I am bit concerned on two things. First one is the breaks and second is the lag.

Even in normal city speeds, I felt the breaks are not adequate and its trying hard to slow the big vehicle. While I did not try this in high speeds, curious to know the feedback from existing users.

The lag is evident, especially being a CVT drivetrain. More interesting is the noise of the engine which is like its trying very hard to churn power when I floor the accelerator pedal.

These 2 are currently bugging me. I am not a fan of ADAS and sunroof. Liked the remaining features if the car, which ticks the creature comfort. However, I feel the fun part is missing. On a different note, Fortuner has the fun quotient, but seriously lacking in middle seat comfort.

Brakes : Have tried to slow down the car from 100+ speeds to around 40 on highways and felt fully confident. haven't tried getting to a complete standstill from those high speeds.
On a different note, with ADAS Pre-collision in place, did help me avoid a couple of incidents where the vehicle ahead suddenly braked and the alert helped me brake in time.

Lag : What i have learnt is with CVT you don't floor the accelerator but press it gently and the engine noise is then controlled [of course with hybrid, you will hear engine noise more when the battery is charging].
The hycross can really hold its own when you need to overtake and it can zoom past many on highways, when needed. In fact I find it fun driving, other owners may pitch in.
