Silverwood,

Could you be more specific.

Like (1) exact location ; (2) In which direction ;

because it is next to impossible to maintain below 40kmph on that stretch of road and 50kmph may be treated as an offence.

I guess the direction needs to be from Imax side to Secunderabad side since there is no tree cover on the return stretch!

They generally are somewhere opposite to Jalvihar (Unable to recollect if before or after Jalvihar though). Imax - Sec'bad is the direction.

Got too many tickets till date. Used to pay up promptly earlier however, have stopped paying and seems like this is a better option! The new challan always shows violation 1!
Most times they seem to send for the heck of it. More so to someone that pays up regularly.

Over speeding ticket (necklace road) came in as rash driving.

Generally people drive fastest just after Ohris till they reach that bridge near PV Ghat. Looks like cops know where to station themselves.

Yeah, because that particular stretch is almost straight and as you rightly said right time to gun the engines. I recall testing the Cruze here a few times and touched a speed thats not appropriate to mention here

Last evening traffic situation was like a scene right out of my nightmare. Reached masab tank in 30mins and masab tank to himayathnagar took me more than 1 hour that too with me squeezing in at every open inch available.

Long queues of people waiting to fill up at bunks overflowing on roads and blocking traffic and to add to this woes folks coming from opposite direction seeing the long jam suddenly decide to turn back. Creating even bigger jams

However, this morning my run from Himyathnagar to Gachibowli was in 25 mins

Was it that low?

Jokes apart, I hope it was during an "empty" time of the day. People/vehicles keep jumping from one side of the road to the other randomly. Now, it's the same in every other part of the city but what makes it more dangerous here is it's ridiculously easy to do the kind of speeds where you really don't want to be surprised.

Now the IIT Junction to Nanakramguda stretch has become similar, especially near the Infy gate and the area opposite MS gate #2. I've been surprised on more than one occasion by people suddenly jumping lanes/sides. Paranoia, visibility and ABS come to the rescue pretty frequently.

Regards,
spadix

Folks,

For some darned reason, traffic was moving at snails pace on Rd # 10 from Nazim Jn to Orissa Island near TRS Bhavan.

I did not see any crowd near the TRS bhavan, but there were quite a few cops at Orissa Island.

Re: Hyderabad: Updates on traffic - diversions, road expansions, alternate routes, et

Over the past month, I have started cycling to office on a regular basis.

Distance 11 kms.
From Banjara Hills to Madhapur.

The route involves a couple of inclines and that takes its toll on speed.

But the interesting fact is my average time.

My Motorcycle usually takes around 20-25 minutes.
My car takes around 25-30 minutes.
My cycle takes 30-35 minutes.

In fact, the more I cycle the more I realize the absurdity of motorized transport for city commute.
Last week, just for fun, I cycled around 18.5 kms. Madhapur-> Old Bombay Highway -> Tolichowki -> Masab Tank -> Banjara Hills.
Because I got clear roads till Tolichowki. The time taken was under 50 minutes.

I got stuck in the same jam this morning and first time saw so much traffic right from Nazim junction until the temple. I kicked myself for taking that route.

Here on, decided both side route will be from Himayathnagar-Medhipatname-Gachibowli.

While going to work, the only blockage is at assembly which clears pretty quickly and is smooth sailing until Gachibowli

Lumbini Park-> Khairtabad-Rd.10 Bhills-> these days is getting increasingly choked up. Will stay away from this route

The trick is to not get on Road No. 10. Take the road right opposite the Banjara Hills Post Office (Road No. 4, I think). Take the first right in the road. Follow the course of the road and it will bring you to Road No. 2 Pizza Corner. Take this road all the way to Check Post junction (this is the only bottleneck). At Check Post Junction, turn left and then get on Road No. 45. Take this all they way to Durgam Cheruvu and to Raheja IT Park. At Mindspace Junction, turn left. At the end of the road you will be on the straight road to Gachibowli.

The route: Hotel Taj Krishna to Unknown road - Google Maps

Thanks for the route info. But, that sounds too zig zaky and these days you never know where a jam will happen out of the blue.

I will stick to Mehdipatnam route which takes me home in evenings in 50mins and around the same time or little less in morning.

That is Road No. 5.

By the way, if you take a right turn when crossing the basti (I think a speed breaker is there at that T-Junction in the basti), you can come out at that sizzler place which closed down and on continuing straight, you join Road No. 3 (or is called 2) at old Q-Mart thus bye-passing the Masjid (since you would be going behind it).

Frankly, though it is a sure shot shortcut but badly tarred road and the amount of basti population one has to tackle makes me hesitant to use it.

Edit : Just realised you had posted a route map also and the right turn is marked Road No. 5 clearly.

The best bet is Lakdi Ka Pul - Mehdipatnam - Tolichowki : slow but moving.

Tried my trusted route via Rd # 10 today, and things were smooth as before. Looks like yesterday was an exception, as my wife saw the jam from Nazim Jn even at 845 am, and she had to divert at Cancer Hospital towards Check Post to avoid gridlock till TRS Bhavan.

Looks like APTRANSCO's cabling work is finished at SPRoad & Minister's RD's junction. But alas, the situation was no better today. It was worse than usual. Don't know exactly why.
