Yes! the finish does feel smoother after curing, as all the polymer bonds have set by then!(nothing left to feel sticky)

a properly cured coat lasts longer too! btw nice results!

you can apply a 2nd coat to ensure even wax coat over the paint!
(one coat might be thin on one panel and thick on the other(mildly affects reflective quality and durability))

therefore, a 2nd coat after the first coat cures should be a must(if time permits)

hey guys, can anybody guide me how can i clean my iKon's fabric seats at home?
They're too dirty and local service station do not do a satisfactory job.
Also, I feel ashamed to disclose that Ford's Service Station @ Ludhiana do not provide interior cleaning service! So I need to do it at home.

Need help about scratch

Hi Experts,

I need your help in rectifying the 1 foot scratch just under my Fiesta's front headlamp. A fire fighting vehicle kissed it 2 days back when it jumped signal.

I cleaned the place only to find paint totally peeled off at extreme ends and scratched in between

Please let me know how much I can rectify it back to original condition. What needs to be done for this?

Please see the picture of the scratch.

Benzinblut - Thanks ! Could not take better pics as i was in a hurry, am planning to take all the cars out for a photo shoot in the sunlight tomorrow The ANHC didnt have much swirls to begin with, now it has reduced by more than 50 %. Slight swirls are still visible if i look closely, removal next on my agenda !

Sohail - Thanks for the inputs ! Am planning to wash & apply another coat tomorrow as it rained yesterday evening and now theres a layer of dust & mud :(

MKH - Thanks once again !

Check out the pics of the Beemer & Swift. Sorry for the poor quality as im not very good at operating the cam & haven't taken them out of the basement as it looks like its gonna pour anytime today !

Washed with SONAX gloss shampoo, followed by two thin coats of NXT Tech Wax,also applied some NXT wax to the alloy wheels & WOW !! what a difference, all brake dust, road grime etc just flew away, the wheels look like new now 3M tire shine for the tyres.

^Wow!! the Swift and the beamer look really cooll!

and amazing tire detailing there!!

(is that wax residue in the third pic, left of the fog lamp?)

@mayukh - try to feel the scratch with your nail(the middle part only)

if paint is not chipped there, then there's a possibility of restoring at least the middle part of the scratch!
(ends have gone too deep and need either a touch up or localized paint in that area only!(I've heard that paint matching in case of localized painting in white color is 90-95%))

dealership will always try to repaint whole of the bumper(as they try to extract max money to meet their bodyshop revenue goals!!)
the wet sanding job after full repaint is pathetic!(if the painter is a perfectionist(ultra rare) then only its perfect)

@thorpe - You can buy upholstery cleaners from car care product shops!

I have used TurtleWax Interior1 on my dad's old Accent and it literally worked wonders!

Formula1 and Abro also have interior cleaning foams that you can try!

OR

as a 'homebrew' method, you can try some liquid detergent mixed with distilled water in a spray bottle along with a brush(to work up lather)! (soft bristles for plastics(so as not to scratch them) and any soft-hard conventional brush for fabrics)

do get a protectant though! (use it on the dashboard after you've cleaned it!)

I guess I wouldn't need it for a while. Exterior detailing stuff is planned for later.

Guys My car recently polished and coated with Dupont teflon material from MASS. I am interested to know whether this will go off if I use my regular Amorall Car Wax and Wash (blue Colour one) ?

Car shampoos are designed to protect wax while removing dirt and grime, You can use the shampoo without damaging the finish, Infact it is recommended that you don't use plain water because the dirt doesn't get dissolved and there are chances of swirl marks, Do remember to wax your car on a timely basis.

Thanks Sohail for your kind advice.

I took the car to FORD A.S.S. today in the afternoon. First, they cleaned the place with some 3M cleaning material. Then they touched up the paint on the ends with a paint brush. However, they advised against touching up the middle part of the scratch.
Result: The black peeled up places went away, though the finish is not like original or as per my expectation (They painted with hand only).

Now, about the middle part: The paint is not chipped there, but the place has become rough/bruised. So what do you suggest to do? Remember the material is of fiber as it is a part of the front bumper.

About bumper repainting: I already had to do it from the A.S.S. as my rear bumper met with an accident within 2 months of purchase. They repainted the new bumper. The finish was top notch, but in very few places, some grains remained (only noticeable in very close observation). When I complained about that, they promptly repainted it. The repaint finish was again top notch and this time there were no grains. I was happy.

Did you look for 'orange peel'??

anyways, if the clear coat in the middle part is still intact you can use a mild rubbing compound(Formula1 ScratchOut liquid) to even out the clear from the middle area!

you might need to work with it a 'lil longer as it cuts very slowly!
