Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

Over the last 8+ years of ownership, our 2 lakhs run Punto has received just regular washes. Decided that I'll pamper the car next time I go home

Bought the following over a period of time :

- Cheap clay bar ₹ 320 - http://s.aliexpress.com/mIzIJVvI

- Cheap applicator pads ₹ 270 - http://s.aliexpress.com/JVRVvENF

- Headlight restoration kit ₹ 480
http://s.aliexpress.com/YzANniUF

The reviews for the cheap Chinese stuff are good. Thought, I'll give it a try before going for the usual choices

- Le Gear micro fiber towel (pack of 3) ₹ 222 (Amazon sale)

- Meguiar's Ultimate Polish ₹ 580 (Amazon sale)

As I've few more weeks at hand, I'll wait for that price drop for wax, shampoo etc on Amazon

Nothing. Those wheels are powder coated and even though you can use these touch up sprays or any other forms of paint, the wheels get exposed to too much of dust and heat. So eventually the paint will either chip off or darken which will make the touch up look even worse. Hence, leave the scratches or nicks as it is and when it increases in number, get the whole alloy stripped and repainted.

Note: I've tried a few experiments and failed. This included Bosny Aerosol paint, Bosny High temperature paint, Dupont paint custom mixed from paint shop. They look good at first, but after sometime it will wear out. The bosny high temp stuff was a little durable, but once I used an alloy wheel cleaner to clean the wheels and I think it just burnt the paint and turned it black

Hence I am open for suggestions as well. If anyone has tried anything else and it has lasted, then I will do it as well.

I remember going through this thread for DIY alloy restoration - and yes, I too have alloys with a lot of curb rash :

https://www.amazon.in/AmazonBasics-L...s_a_1_4&sr=8-4

Must be a pricing error - I bought a pair at Rs.449 - loved the product - every bit as good as the Chemical Guys Waffle towel and the detailedclean monster cloth...but at Rs.323, it's unbelievably cheap!

Similarly, the MF cloths (I use these for household tasks/alloy wheel cleaning) are incredibly cheap! 48 for Rs.767 with the 15% discount is Rs.13.6/- a cloth!

Yeah the price was quite surprising. I got a heads up from SunnyBoi and immediately ordered one for myself. The last time I had used waffle towels was from Xstatic and these self destructed after some time. Lets see how this one goes.

I'll be taking the same way and would like to understand the steps to be taken by the A.S.S.; it will be valuable if you could elaborate the same in order for me to guide them further.

Thank you.

Sorry, metropolis, I have no idea. I just asked them to do what they could as a touch-up job.

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

all previous products removed
Menzerna powerlock - 1 coat one week back
Meguairs ultimate waterless wash and wax
Poorboy's Natty Blue wax - 1 coat
Some swirls due to daily cleaning by Watchman (open parking) but the wax hides it well from a distance. The "liquid design" philosophy really comes alive !

How good is this in absorbing water? I wash my car myself and whatever cloth I am using (pure cotton), does not absorb water well so quite a lot of water remains on the car and leaves marks upon drying! Any suggestions?

You could try the large microfiber towel 24"x36" from detailedclean (x-static). I had mentioned this on another thread, you can check the earlier post here and the linked post on that thread too for more details.

It absorbs water very well

This is my first purchase of drying towel and I'm impressed. The entire car (Fiat Punto) can be dried without squeezing in between

If not in a hurry, wait for the price to drop. Currently it's retailing for 424 after Amazon Pay cashback

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

The number plates on my cars do not have the 'Bright White' look anymore.

They are just 1.5 years old :(

What should I do to make them look 'White'?
