Got the mount replaced for my Civic under extended warranty in the last week. You can give it a try at the HASS, probably changing back to the original mount before you go there.

Even in my case they first tried giving me a quote for that, but when I mentioned of getting it done under warranty and that quite a few people have got the replacement made under warranty, they immediately obliged. No harm in giving it a try.

Thanks for the update Spadix. Can you please give some more details on the lubing/tightening of bolts throughout the car for which you spent 3K. Do you have the details as to what all activities were undertaken to charge such an enormous amount. The reason I am saying enormous is that I fail to understand HASS charging 3K just to tighten the bolts and put some grease. Shouldn't this be a part of the regular service. After all, we do expect them to tighten all loose bolts and apply grease wherever required.

I was also made aware by one of the SA that some scheme would be launched between 19th and 23rd. Thanks for the update. Need to get the transmission mount changed. Will get this done at 10% less cost in case this item is covered under the discount scheme. Also need to change brake pads but I will source them from outside rather than spend 3 times the amount at HASS.

Mine doesn't even after replacing the battery although the key is working fine now otherwise. Seems the LED has gone bad in the key, hence not glowing. Any DIY to fix the light issue.

This exact sound is there in the pre-owned 2007 Civic V AT I purchased recently.
Diagnosed it to the CD changer mechanism, which seems to produce this noise only when there's a CD loaded. It seems to set/reset the changer slots when switched on or off, I'm not too bothered with it as planning to replace it with a 2 DIN non-touch-screen HU soon.

In my case this was due to the air mix motor assembly. Got it replaced under warranty and the noise has mostly vanished now. I have a recording of this on my phone. I'll try to attach it here if I can.

Thanks, if it's the motor then I should start getting more concerned about it.
Should any error in air mix motor show up on OBD? I got a Bluetooth OBD scanner recently and that showed no faults.

I wouldn't think this type of error would show up in an OBD scan. This motor isn't related to the engine and drivetrain. It just controls the air mixture fed to the AC blower.

You should hear this sound in the following conditions typically -
1. You reduce temperature
2. Generally driving around in warmer conditions with AC on (even w/o fiddling with the temperature)
3. Switch off the engine after it has sufficiently warmed up. Then turn on the electricals and wait for around 30 secs (this is the one I have recorded on my phone)
4. Alternate to 3. - turn on the electricals when the engine has cooled down (i.e. next morning) and then you'll hear the sound immediately instead of after 30 seconds. Note that this sound is different from the general "brrr" sound you hear when the gauges calibrate immediately after turning the electricals on.

In most cases you'll hear some companion click sounds before the actual air mix motor sound, but I don't know if they are necessarily related.

I will live with it, though in principle the LED can be replaced, if a SMD mount then some specialised tools may be needed.

Can you let me know the contacts from where you purchase the spares in Karol Bagh. I am based out of Vaishali, hence Karol Bagh is ok for me to reach out to. Is there any other place closer to my place for getting the spares, Kashmere Gate? Any contacts for that area?

Also, a query on the Brake Pads. When we say OEM Nissin, are we saying that Made in Japan is engraved on the Brake Pads or just printed on the packing?

I need to change my rear brake pads immediately.

Just an update on the brake disc skimming.

I get my civic serviced at Prime Honda Vaishali and got my front discs skimmed some time back. They have the portable model for skimming the discs and do not take out the disc and send it to someone outside. Not sure if other service centers have it or not. Unfortunately did not have the camera to take pics that day. BTW, the cost of skimming was on the higher side at 1500 + taxes which I guess defeats the purpose as it can be done at 1/4th the cost outside, however, if anyone needs peace of mind and wants to get it done from HASS, it is very much possible, at least at Prime Honda Vaishali.

Its a small lathe machine which is fixed on to the disc by lifting the car at a certain height. The entire process of skimming one disc takes about 20 minutes.


I asked Honda S.S. for skimming. They did not say no but they were reluctant to do so with excused like, we will have to send the disks to somewhere and then you will need to leave the car for 1-2 days and the person is on leave who takes them for skimming, etc etc.

Thanks Prof. Does this mean that you vouch for the skimming machine that the HASS has and we should get the skimming done from them only rather than outside?

Have not yet seen it. I have seen skimming machines (mostly off the wheel type) abroad.

Also, the way it is operated will matter. I have no issues with the operator of a lathe not touching the longitudinal movement once he starts a pass of skimming, but they seldom do. Also most lathes in the market are not that precise.

Great! Thanks for the detailed explanation. I checked out the sound carefully this weekend and its definitely coming from the cd changer as another civic at the workshop with a working cd changer produced the same noise when doing a disc change.
