It should work. I just tested in again. "Take a photo". That command worked.
Voice commands are only few I think. Do not remember what all commands are accepted.
Settings of the unit is much easy if it is connected to the 70mai App in a smart phone
Thanks, the manual reads as ''Voice control is enabled by default'', but still I checked the setting and it was showing as 'enable'.

You said that we have to keep Voice recording & Voice control in ON position?
But in the instruction page (Mai website), there are only Video recording & Voice control'' but no mention about 'Voice recording''?

Please clarify - thanks

Very confusing to buy, it is not displaying the version which comes with gps module. ( or was it always to be purchased separately?)

Even i am on a lookout for the one with gps built-in.

Edit:
As in when you click on the link from 70mai store for dashcam with the gps module it takes you one without gps mentioned anywhere. (Wrong links or false marketing?)

It comes as a standalone dashcam unit as well as with a GPS unit. GPS unit is just a push-on on the regular dashcam unit. As of now, in Amazon the unit without GPS only available.
Separate GPS unit can be bought. That is also not available in Amazon as of now.

The GPS units details..

When you search for a 70mai pro with GPS, you will get the result of same if stocks available, otherwise you will be taken to next available model i.e 70mai pro without GPS. You can buy one without GPS and then buy a GPS module separately when it is available.

I too booked one without GPS, but then there was a problem with my payment hence the booking was not confirmed. The next morning I saw the listing on Amazon for the 70mai with GPS (only one set was available in stock) and I immediately cancelled the other one and booked the GPS fitted camera.

Are you trying the voice control when the vehicle is in motion?
Try "Take picture" command when the vehicle is stationary and with the App connected.

There is an inherent issue with this model on voice command when the vehicle is moving. It's a random response to the commands.

The instructions say that ''the Dash Cam Pro does not support voice control when The Dash Cam Pro is connected to a mobile phone''.

I have been trying to give voice commands when the car is stationary only.

Also have seen below terms in the instruction manual:

''Please turn on the screen to see if the current screen is the album. In the album screen, the device stops recording and the voice control does not work.''

What is all about Album screen?

Album screen means you are in 'Gallery' section. (Fourth button - Right most button - is selected for viewing the photos / videos. When the unit is in Gallery enabled state, recording / Voice control will not work.
For voice control to work the unit should be in recording mode.

The rightmost (when we look at the camera from our side) button is 'Settings', I think?

Correct me, if I am wrong.

I think, something is missing here. How about doing a reset?

My bad. Album / Gallery is 3rd from left.
For me the voice control works only if the unit is connected with App. If it's not connected to App (via wifi) voice control do not have any impact.
My unit is without GPS. But, frankly, GPS will/should not have any impact on the functionality of voice control.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Ok, I got it now.

Once again I checked all the settings.

In Video settings, I changed the resolution code from 265 to 264. (I am not sure if this has to do anything with the voice control?)

Connected to the app and checked all settings and made sure all in order.

Then disconnected the app and gave a command 'Take picture' and picture taken - so, it's working. Tried two /three times and fine now.

However, if the app is connected to the camera, then no recording or no voice control working.

Thanks all your assistance.!

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

This is my first DIY attempt. I have installed the 70mai Smart Dash Cam Pro in my Kia Seltos. I have tried my best to conceal the wires as much possible without cutting or opening any major component.

Step 1- Find the right position for the Dashcam. I wanted the dashcam to be just behind the IRVM and away from my line of sight to avoid any distraction while driving.

Step2- Stick the Electrostatic sticker on the windshield at the right position. I goofed up on the first attempt and pasted the sticker too close to the IRVM mount . Due to this I was not able to attach and detach the Dashcam from the bracket. So had to remove it and again use the second Electrostatic sticker.

Step 3- Stick the Dashcam mount on the electrostatic sticker. There are proper markings provided on the sticker so this part was easy.

Step 4- Mount the dashcam on bracket and connect the cable. Push the cable along the inner top line of the Windshield. You can push the cable inside with the help of the plastic tool provided along with the Dashcam.

Step 5- Push the cable all the way to the corner of A pillar and the Windshield. The plastic tool is really helpful here and with some effort you can push the cable inside the A Pillar from the gaps without opening it. You can push the cable along the A pillar all the way till the Glovebox.

Step 6- You need to open the glovebox and get the cable from behind it and run all the way till the console. Even at the center console you can push the cable in so that it will be hidden properly.

Step 7 Connect the USB cable to the 12V socket using the Power adapter and there you go.
