For accessing the internet, I touch the Safari icon and then surf to the mobile version of team-bhp (terrific experience, superb job t-bhp!) and other sites.

My stupid question : how do I disconnect from the internet?

Regards

Seems so. The wifi spot too hasn't been activated but maybe it is also Network ( I'm on reliance).

Solution 1:
1. Launch the settings app
2. Tap general>network
3. Scroll down and look for Personal hotspot
4. If it somehow got turned off and turn it back on

Solution 2:
1. Launch the settings app
2. Tap General>reset
3. Tap on Reset Network Settings.
4. Wait for device to restart and if you still don't see it repeat solution 1.
I think they don't want older iPads to have that. I tried all the settings. Have reset the iPad many time over

I must report that the new battery management is working and is tremendous for 3G network usage. The system is responding better to opening and switching between the apps. I am doing some more test and will update soon.

The iPad started again, did complete restart from scratch but didn't get the wifi hotspot that's promised in 5.1 OS.
Are you using a 3G enabled iPad? The wifi hotspot feature will show up only on 3G iPads if I am not wrong. I have a wifi only iPad 2 and I don't see the hotspot feature either. It is very much there on my iPhone 4.

Yes, I have 3G GSM working on Reliance services. The keynotes showed that it is now capable to act as wifi hotspot. I upgraded and reset and tried all settings. No hotspot no dictation :(

Now my iPod is also on 5.1 but the lock screen camera doesn't work that used to work earlier. An update will soon come, I'm sure. It's buggy currently.

If you have a jailbreak you can install Sb settings, with one swipe on the status bar, you can toggle your data network, wifi, location etc.

It is the version from Skobbler. I find it to be good for what I need. But it is not as good as the Google maps direction feature.

I haven't broken out yet. A one touch disconnect button would've been nice.

re: The iPhone Thread

installed iOS 5.1 yesterday. visibly i don't see any improvements yet except for the camera option on the lock screen (earlier one had to double-tap).

here are the details of what's included.

@dhanush: unfortunately, that sound problem has been been not fixed in the patch

Yes, I don't see any major difference in ios 5.1.

Apart from ios, Now Apple is allowing download limit up to 50mb (Earlier it was 20mb). But still, for more than 50mb, you need wi-fi or itunes through Laptop.

Well, I always thought that limit was defined by cellular operators. Its good to have it extended to 50 MB. Most apps will now be up-datable over a 3G connection.

Major difference the spot light now works without throwing tantrums. Earlier it used to misbehave as and when it feels. The easy cam access is kewl for scoop shots now
