try into believing that the controls they have put are effective. Not sure if you remember Steve's public appeal to the industry to shun DRM.
So I guess Chris rock is right when he says this:

Funny, yeah, but makes good business sense, although probably practice will be a bit more sublime.

re: The iPhone Thread

Thanks DerAlte and M5_fan for your inputs.

My 3GS is up and running perfectly however a new problem has taken birth.

No Wifi. The wifi option is greyed. I cannot toggle Wifi On-Off. I did many restores and resets but nothing. Do I need to change the wifi antenna or wifi chip?

Iphone Config Utility detects the bluetooth and wifi (bluetooth and wifi chip is same?) so its reading the chip but nothing working.

It's a hardware issue and not a software issue. Not uncommon. wifi antenna might have become loose. Press the area near the camera. Gently but firmly. Helps to press from front and back at the same time. Use your fingers and thumb rather than a mechanical object.

If this doesn't solve it then you'd have to open it up and get the wifi asy changed. The whole contraption is so bloody small. I have one open in my drawer and it's like humpty dumpty. Can not put it back together again.

re: The iPhone Thread

Got my iphone 4 officially unlocked from AT&T, asked my friend to raise case, as we paid full for this phone following process clearly mentioned here :

How to Unlock an AT&T iPhone in 5 Easy Steps (If You’re Lucky) | Techland | TIME.com

AT&T allowing customers to unlock their iPhone for international use - TechSpot News

you just need to provide your IMEI number and once they raise the case with in 2-3 days you will get confirmation email for unlock. Just restore and you are officially unlocked.

You bought it from US and completed 2 years of contract or you gave them another reason?

We bought it from US only, the time when they are selling it without contract at premium price. So no contract obligations.

Just an FYI, the earliest 2 years contract end date for any iPhone4 in the world would be 06/24/2012. How do I know that? Simple, I bought mine on 06/24/2010, first day of launch. AT&T guys will be very busy handling unlock requests of iPhone4 on 06/24/2012 as more than million iPhone 4 will be eligible for unlock.

Yes. My 3GS has completed 2 years but 4S just 6 months. But I'm back in India, doubt they'll unlock my 4S.

I lost 105$ because of similar crap they pulled with the ios updates.
With this they've pulled the plug on resupported as well.

Feels good to be android now.

I suppose this is what diesel car owners must feel like.

not at loss right now coz i haven't bought any accessories for my phone or ipod. but even such a drastic change is made, i'm sure third party connectors might be available as a go-between (remember the mini and micro USB).

OT: so reached home or you parked somewhere and posting from your phone?

On the android at home!!
Such is life.

As far as third party goes,i doubt it.
When they didn't allow same port accessories to work, this is a bigger cash cow.
