re: Suggestions for printers

I recently bought an HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3545e All-in-One Printer based on some online reviews, although i haven't used much it seems to be a good all purpose printer.

Please suggest a vfm laser printer for occasional home usage. Colored preferred but not necessary. Budget as low as possible.

I bought a Ricoh Aficio SP100SU for 5.5K, its a black and white laser printer with scanner and copier functions.

The basic printer-only model; SP100 was selling for 2300, you might wanna have a look at that

I bought the same two weeks ago. Works really well. I like the way it feels and sounds. Much more solid then my previous HP printer which always sounded as if its inner bits were held together by elastic bands.

Hi Nemo/Jeroen,

This printer is available for INR 5,914.00 (original price INR 7,685.00 discounted by 23%) on Snapdeal. Is this printer worth picking up at this price? How much did you guys buy it for?

Please clarify the following since I am not much of a techie. I am looking for an all in one printer which I may use to copy, print, scan and is wi-fi enabled.

1. Is the set up easy?
2. If it is used infrequently, could it turn problematic?

Any other thoughts which you guys would like to share are most welcome.

Thanks!

re: Suggestions for printers

General basic printer tip from personal experience, do not buy an inkjet unless the printer will be regularly used. The nozzles get jammed easily in Indian dusty conditions.

Laser is the way to go even if it costs a bit more, you can just dust it off & use it after weeks of not being in use.

I have a Canonscan 4400F scanner & a HP P1108 laserjet printer at home
, both do respective functions very well.

Thanks Gsurya!

Which laserjet printer would you recommend for my type of home use?
No scanning function would be fine, but, would like the copy, print and wi-fi functionality.

On a side note: the "thanks" tab is suddenly not appearing. Any idea why?

Cheers

I would have gone for the HP LaserJet - M1136 if I hadnt had a good Canon scanner already, is about 10K.

Yes the 'Thanks' button is on some threads, not on others.. strange.

Thanks!

I think I paid s little more at Reliance, about inr 6500. Set up under windows was very easy, a little bit more problematical with my Mac.
Ive only had it for a few weeks so I really cant comment on how well it last. But as I stard before it feels and sounds a lot more solid than my previous HP printer. Time will tell, but so far so good!

They get clogged/dried/blocked in all conditions. It happened to me in London before I brought the printer to India. It costs a fortune in thrown-away cartridges (or print heads if separate).

It seems contradictory to buy something which is obviously a heavier-duty office-work-load thing for occasional use, but it isn't. My very sturdy Brother laser printer sits unused for weeks, and is always ready when wanted. The stuff I threw away during the time I used the Canon inkjet would actually have paid for a laser printer!

Can any one please recommend me a Laser All-in-one for small office for black and white printing. I have zeroed down one HP M128 FW of HP. Any other option I must consider? Any and all suggestions will be welcomed. I should be network and wifi ready.

I am planning to buy the same printer.
How is the one year ownership experience? Any pros/cons, any issue of print head getting dried if not used for few days?

I have had this printer for 1.5 years and am completely satisfied with it.
I print rarely and the ink does not dry out.

I also use it for a lot of scanning, converting paper documents and old photos to digital.

It use it under Ubuntu 14.04, though for certain jobs I need Windows 7.
