I am planning to buy a touch phone this Diwali and my budget is upto 30K. Which all models I can look. Or do i need to wait for the iphone4s?. I am having the below ones in my mind.
iphone 4, samsung G2, HTC models, Balckberry.

For me , the imp should be like screen resolution, camera, video recording in HD, 3G etc.

This will my first touch phone.

Now, can I run 2.3.3 Gingerbread too..If I download ODIN and get the map of the ROM, is it possible to do it in a Galaxy 3 - I5801?

I would like to know the advantages of rooting..

Else am happy if I can get the phone to be fast!!!!!

Nokia 500 will have a capacitive touch screen, hopefully it would be responsive. It is being touted as a budget smart phone for the masses. There is no confirmation, but price should be within 10k.

I don't have personal experience with XCD35, but I have read user reviews in which users were complaining about the phone getting heated while charging and during long calls. If you are looking for a long lasting phone, I wouldn't recommend this one. This is basically a rebadged Chinese phone.

Another issue is that XCD35 is a triband 2G and single band 3G phone. It does not cover all the frequency bands. On the other hand, Nokia 500 is quad band 2G and penta band 3G compatible. You can use this phone anywhere on earth.

XCD35's internal memory and processor speed are very less for an Android phone. Nokia 500 has 2GB internal memory and 1GHz processor.

Any idea about the availability of SGS2 in WHITE color? There is only one dealer offering on eBay and that too more than 36K. SGS2 looks awesome in white.

Any ideas where we can get it cheaper? What about getting it from UK/Australia?

I hit the 1st road block - downloaded Kies and when installing it gives me a error "Not connected to the internet - please recheck and try again"

Samsung - you fool - how the heck did I download Kies if I am not connected to the internet !

My Samsung galaxy 3 has given up,

I saw an firmware update and started upgrading ( using KIES) . In middle of upgrade an error accoutred. KIES asked me to note down the error code and run the repair program from another PC .

Since i did not had another PC i rebooted the same PC again and this time was able to successfully upgrade the build number : FROYODDJP6.

Next day onwards phone was not able to pick any incoming sound properly. even while doing audio recording i was able to hear a lot of disturbances . So I am unable to use the phone as the other party cannot hear my voice clearly .


Since i had not rooted the device and phone is still under warranty , i went to SAMSUNG centre. I was told that phone had some liquid and they will not honour any warranty. They asked me to foot a bill of 4100 Rs which I declined.

Please advise on what to do now. I will never go to SAMSUNG again , looking for a sturdy phone like defy with 1 GHz processor.

Actually it is MIUI 1.9.30. I upgraded to it recently. It's the best ROM I've come across so far. I like CM7 but compared to MIUI it feels a lot basic.

I have a 'Guard' mode which hides call history, sms & e-mail and also locks the screen icons in their place, so I can peacefully give my phone to anyone who wants to check it out.



How do I get the screenshots easily to my PC? The MIUI file explorer has an ftp service.
Several things that you would install as user apps from market in other ROMs comes free and as part of the OS with MIUI.

If purpose is to use as a pc suite - yes, you can try uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling.

Not if you can get into download mode.

That is mistake #1. Whenever possible, use ODIN. Kies is more temperamental than most females.

Just had a dekho of ICS on nexus prime. the phone specs are good but ICS itself is ugly and disappointing. i dont think iphone has anything to worry about. google you suck. At least MS are doing some beautiful things. now that i cant stand apple and google is disappointing me like anthing, next phone will be MS (or a 900 rupee "feature phone")
