You mean Maruti will start selling the car before they even start manufacturing it? Pray how? Usually bookings are started just one month before the 1st lot of cars is scheduled to roll out is it not?

On the 3-door Jimny my guess is that they will continue to sell it as an option to foreign markets while India will remain a 5-door market.

This cant be the reason according to me. Considering that the 3 door Mini Cooper’s rear seats are practically no use at all for anyone. Best thing for those seats is fold them and put luggage on them.

Honestly, the same goes for the Thar 3 door as well.

Speaking with some authority since I own both the above mentioned vehicles.

Even better option would be to make it a 2 seater with better seats and a bigger luggage area.

FY24 means April 2023-March 2024. 2nd half of 2023 is part of FY24. That's how.

Your option: remove the extra seats, which is not illegal. I plan to remove the side-facing bench seats from my Gypsy

Seem to be a better option than having two useless seats at the back

Could be, until you know this "van version" With the most simple radio, the basic headlights, and all the basic equipment, cost 2000€ more, than the most expensive, "car version" 4 seater Jimny, With navigation system, L.E.D. headlights, heated seats......

Re: Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door caught testing in India

Saw a Dubai registered 3 door Jimny on Mumbai roads and the yellow coloured little beast was just awesome.

Hope somebody high up at Maruti decides to take the plunge and release the 3 door Jimny along with the January launch of the 5 door.

Its just meant for a fun city drive with an amazing road presence without really in your face kind of attitude.

Obviously I mean the premium version with all features just minus the back seats and with a flat luggage area instead. Why would you think I would want a barebones van just because it exists?

Yes, I shared this about a month ago as some were saying it will get the K15C.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door caught testing in India

Jimny is currently 3550mm long in 3 seater avatar, and expected to be 300mm more for 5 seater version. So a 3850mm vehicle. Why does it need a 1.5L engine that forgoes the tax benefit of under 4m and under 1.2L petrol engines? I the underlying platform heavy like that of Brezza, that it requires a 1.5L engine?

Its heavier

You forget that Brezza is on a monocoque chassis, and is Jimny is on ladder frame.

Of course of if you are downsizing engines Jimny does come with a 658 cc, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. That should get around the 4m regulations.
