Ask them on the terms and conditions laid out in the warranty. Generally only major mods void warranty. Not sure about upsizing tires but they can definitely bring that up if there's some issue in the car later on, just confirm everything in writing preferably via email. Verbally, it is of no worth.

Already one another person was after this car, he took the test drive just after me. Since I found the car best of the lot I had seen in the used car market, I went ahead and paid the token amount. The other person also was ready to take it but since I acted swiftly, he went back disappointed from the showroom. Can't afford now to explore the used car market all over again. Anyways prices on Cars24 and Spinny are much higher that this deal.

No major maintenance required for now except for tyres. I'll confirm about upsizing tyres from the Honda people.

I was of the opinion that spinny, in such cases would fix what they can in the car before listing it. I mean, isn't that reason they use to justify charging a premium of 5-10% over the market value of the vehicle?

Tbh I started looking for a used Octavia primarily because of two reasons:

1) The 2.0L TDI : From what I've read, it's an absolute workhorse which can clock north of 1.5L kms with ease (provided it's maintained right)

2) Skoda's in general depreciate more than the competition ( say Hyundai / Honda)

But going by the prices I'm seeing for used octy's in Chennai, I don't see it happening.

Some used examples I've seen online :

https://www.cartrade.com/buy-used-ca...45.html?dc=176

https://www.cartrade.com/buy-used-ca...9031.html?dc=0

https://www.olx.in/en-in/item/skoda-...iid-1724529272

I understand that the above cars are listed by dealers but going by this, the Octavia does seem to do a good job at holding it's value in the used car market.
So either my assumption ( Skoda's undergo higher depreciation than the competition) is wrong or the prices that these cars are being listed at, are well above the market standard.
As this is my first time looking at used cars, It would be great if someone with more experience in these matters provides a better understanding of what's actually happening on the groud.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

This week, I visited Spinny to inspect a Sonet Diesel AT that was featured on their platform as part of their "Assured" car selection. This designation assures customers that these vehicles have been thoroughly inspected for any accidents and meet high-quality standards. The Sonet in question had a remarkably low mileage of only 10,000 kilometers and appeared almost brand new. It drove smoothly, and all its components worked flawlessly. I requested to review the service history of the car, and during this process, I noticed that several parts had been replaced, including the rear bumper, rear boot door, and tail lights, along with the logo. These replacements raised concerns for me as they indicated some sort of impact or damage to the vehicle's rear. When I inquired about these changes, the sales advisor suggested that they might have occurred when opening the boot and accidentally hitting something. I found this explanation incredulous and questioned why the entire boot, including the logo, had to be repainted and replaced. In light of these findings, I decided to walk away from the deal. I commend Spinny for providing the service history, allowing customers like me to make informed decisions independently, rather than relying solely on the explanations of their sales representatives.

Am not advocating for Spinny but I faced a similar incident with my almost-new Seltos some time ago. Some idiot biker banged into it from the front while it was parked, leaving a small but ugly dent in the front bonnet. I had to get the entire front bonnet repainted and the Kia logo replaced (and unfortunately you cannot retrofit the new logo in there). I got it done because it looks really ugly and at least in my case there was no major accident involved (I don't even know who caused the damage since we don't have CCTV coverage in our basement parking lot).

My point is the Spinny guy may have been telling the truth. If it's a good car you may want to take him at face value and reconsider!

Thanks, i am not saying Spinny is bad but it is highly difficult to tell the reason for the impact, i was not comfortable because its not just repainted boot but even tail lamps changed, unless there is major impact why evertlything gets changed, as an individual i prefer vehicles which has clean history as much as possible.

A few parts repainted or replaced shouldn't be a major concern as it happens in metro cities with lots of traffic. This would have been mentioned in their inspection report though, isn't it? If not, I feel they didn't inspect it thoroughly.

There's a 9/10 chance you won't get a spic and span car if you are buying used. Come to Kolkata habibi. Here, almost every car is repainted/repaired even right out of showroom, due to the crazy traffic and how tightly we need to park cars. Even new cars are not spared of scratches/minor dents. Check if the vitals - tyres, suspension, clutch, brakes, electricals and engine are fine. It might be a good deal.

In my case, the Spinny sales associate was reluctant to even share the service records which was a major red flag. Eventually I managed to get hold of it, and as expected the car was in need of repairs. They never mentioned these in inspection report.

If it is mentioned in the inspection report, they have been transparent about the same. Then I don't feel any reason to worry. Please do share the price as well so we can give a better judgement.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Guys my 2018 Honda City ZX CVT is due for upgrade. Both cars24 and spinny offered ~6lakhs after first inspection. Current offer is 9.25 by C24.
Car is under extended warranty annually extendable till 2028. Has always been serviced in authorised svc with full service records that match current mileage of 1 lakh kms. It still runs like a battle tank with that silent petrol mill.
Because of warranty and FSH, my asking was 10.5Lakh here in indore. C24 might give me a final offer near 9.5 in next discussion.
Shall I? Shall I not?

My friend picked up a white L&K 2019 from Ahmedabad last September. Has renewed insurance this june.
He paid 18.5 lakhs to dealer for this then 3 year 3 month old car with a comprehensive insurance that would last another 9 months. Was around 30k on the odo.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Just sold my KA registered 2018 Alto K10 AMT to Spinny in Pune. The car is 5.5 years old, had run ~28k km and was in an overall good condition with minor city scars here and there.

Sold for 3.7 Lakh of which 14.5k was reduced to take the car back to Bangalore, so in effect a 3.55 Lakh price to me, which I think is incredible considering the car was bought for around 5 !

This great re-sale prompted me to fast track my plans and get home the Jimny I always wanted

Isn't it because KA is charging very high taxes/RTO fees? One more reason for this high resale value is because the car was AMT. Heard that in metro cities like BLR, automatics (and AMTs) have a lot of demand due to the traffic

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

We are considering selling two of our cars at home and would like to know what kind of prices we can expect for them. Please share your thoughts on this.
  1. Renault Duster RXZ AWD. Manufactured and registered in 2016 with WB registration and lifetime tax paid. It has been driven for 79,000 kms, and we are the second owner.
  2. Ford EcoSport Titanium Dragon Petrol. Manufactured and registered in 2018 with WB registration and lifetime tax paid. It has been driven for 62,000 kms, and we are the first owner.

Let me stop you right there, before posting any further I'd like to mention that, I'm a newbie in owning cars, I'm not associated with Spinny, neither have I purchased any product from them (I'll share my reasons), nor will I.

-Saw a YT video (On a reputed channel), wherein a user purchased a Duster, it was literally fixed with jugaad, the air filter was coming out (Nice dust going into the engine). The filter box was wobbling, no screws to hold it in place, yes it was thoroughly checked for your peace or mind, atleast thats what they said.
-Saw another video, where a user purchased a Brio, the boot had some issues (was not shown on Spinny's site), after about 6-8 months of ownership, this person decided to sell the car back to spinny, the inspection person mentioned that the user has done some modifications in the boot (Probably met with some accident), so they were not going to buy the car back, the user here showed the pictures of the car on spinny's website which was posted by spinny before sale & matched it with the cars current condition, both were exactly same. User also faced a battery low issue shortly after the purchase, had to shell 4.3K from his pocket to replace the battery, which was not informed during the time of sale. Also the user was happy with the car purchase until this incident happened.
-Now this one is hilarious, a user purchased an i20 from Spinny for about 3.5L, with no catalytic converter, some random service records shown on the tablet, later came to know that the car was never serviced in Hyundai after 2017 or 2018. Yes it was sold through spinny, with their 1 million point quality check, again thats what they say. The performance was poor, he couldn't return it during the return period as he didn't knew how to check performance, about 10 days later he asked spinny for buyback, spinny slashed the value by 1.05 lacs.

Happy to share those videos with anyone interested, didn't want to take the thread in a different direction, hence didn't post the videos here. 2 videos come from a reputed channel.

I had a very good respect for Spinny, until I saw these videos. Some may say these things happen once in a blue moon, and employees are sacked after that. But what remains unanswered is, what if you are the unlucky buyer, where do you go after getting screwed up? Not to mention their prices, we all know their prices are extremely competitive when comparing with new cars.

Good you dropped the car, I'm sure you'll find a better deal elsewhere.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hello guys..This is my first post on this forum and without a doubt I'm pretty much happy to join as a member. It's been like 3 years I've been exploring daily updates/posts on Teambhp and always appreciated the to-the-point comments and fair reviews by fellow members. The best site for car enthusiasts.

Well, I am planning to buy a pre-owned Toyota Yaris which would replace my 10-year-old Ford Ecosport (TDCI with 87K ODO). No doubt Ecosport has served the best times with me and love this machine. However, since it's a 2013 model it would be best time to change with something more reliable which has to be a Toyota for primary two reasons, 1) My long-time wish to own a Toyota & 2) I love the mini Altis i.e. Yaris. While exploring Spinny and other used car dealers, these are the best options I could mention:

> Spinny :
  • 2018 Yaris J (Manual) has a mileage of 11K. Price ₹ 7.37L.
  • 2018 Yaris V (Manual) has a mileage of 49K. Price ₹ 7.62L.
  • 2020 Yaris J (CVT) has a mileage of 9K. Price ₹ 9.07L.
> Cars24 :
  • 2018 Yaris J (CVT) has a mileage of 64K. Price ₹ 7.40L.
> Local Dealer :
  • 2018 Yaris VX (CVT) has a mileage of 84K. Price ₹ 7.75L
I am more inclined towards Automatic transmission due to traffic conditions and seems like there are only 2 options (CVT) in Ahmedabad that I came across.

The VX trim with the local dealer looks like a good option but the car has already done over 84,000 km; so not sure whether it could be a good option to buy looking to keep it for at least 5 years. Whereas, the J tirm lacks many features so I am convinced with this base model.

Kindly guide me over this. Thanks!
