Hello guys,

I have few things to add to the beast

1. 3M Paint Protection film (PPF) for key area's
2. Better floor mats
3. AWD sticking similar to what is there in the Duster AWD
4. Upgrading of the low beam head lamps to OSRAM / Phillips

Let me know if anything else is needed?

Mod Note: Upload the images as attachments.

Adding images of my beast. Its a 2014 June W8 AWD model.

Congrats on your new car.

Stock bulbs are OSRAM. Just be sure on what you are upgrading too.
Most of the upgrades have not made any clear improvisation except for HID's.

Get Osram night breaker plus for the high beams and a good HID kit for the low beams.. Should give you ample lighting for the highway night drives...

@Mannubhai - I just put the 3M PPF film today to key areas. It costed me 14K. Below are the area's where i put it
  • Front & Back Bumper
  • Outside Rear View Mirror (ORVM)
  • 4 Door handle area
  • All the door edges
  • Door Foot steps on all 4 sides

On the headlight previous 2 posts have explained the same.

Experts,

I have some questions, Appreciate your response on the same
  • I want to make the middle row seats slidable. Has anyone done it in Bangalore? Where can i get it done?
  • Navigation menu sucks big time. Its not user friendly. Can i transfer a google map route to XUV navigation? What other optiosn to setup a route with different Via points?
  • LED's on the headlight assembly are not Daytime Running Lights (DRL's)?

I can answer two of your questions.

Technically possible, but it would be a nightmare. you would need to buy slider rails and then weld them to the floor. Then mount the seats on the rails using custom fabricated brackets. Technical skill involved is too high in this. I personally do not recommend this.

LEDs are NOT DRLs. They turn on with with first turn of the "light" knob

Do you know anyone in Bangalore who can do this? Any good fabrication / Car Modification shop?

In our family, no one is that tall and we feel Middle row seats have too much leg room and last row too less. So having sliding seats will greatly helps to have the last row seats more practical.

Try out these options available on ebay.

I use this cover for my XUV key as a precaution even though my key is fine.

Hey Rave20 - I do not know any shops in B'lore for the same. Again, Fabrication or installation in NOT the challenge. Designing the setup is the challenge. Floor clamps would have to be removed and rails welded. Rails should be able to support the "jerking-load" under stress of three adults+. We need a simulator to check, if the seat is slided all the way forward and the back-rest is tilted to the front, there is sufficient space for a 5'10'' tall person to tuck himself back in the rear most seat, without getting hurt by those rails. Also - the seat height might go up a few inches, thereby sacrificing head-room. It would inconvenience any six footers whom you might ferry in future (family / office colleagues / friends etc)

Majorly - would mahindra honor any warranty with this modification done?

If money is not a constraint, reach out to Carnation or Dilip Chabria, who would have a ready made solution for this problem. Again Quality of work might be there with DC, but Mahindra warranty might go for a toss. DC guys are enthusiastic to take on any reasonable simple modifications, albeit a cost.

Already checked with DC and they don't make it. Yet to check with Carnation!

Great !! Hey !! also check out some of the workshops / garages recommended in the below thread. You might get an enthusiastic owner, who is ready to do the modification.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

^^ There is small niggle in getting second row sliders.

In the default configuration (without sliders) if you have front passenger seat pushed back, you will find difficulty in folding the second row left side (single seat) for third row passenger to get it.

This is since the headrest of second row seat will hit against the front passenger seats backside.

So, if you are having rails installed, you will have to keep the front passenger seat pushed ahead.

Can you confirm with Mahindra if they are offering Premium maps to XUV or the basic one?
How do i check the version of maps? What is the version in yours? since you bought few months from mine we should be having the same.

As much as the value it will offer I am not sure if after market mod is a good idea to make middle rows slidable. In addition to quality of workman ship I have my doubts about safety. Imagine the stress the seat will undergo with 3 adults seated during heavy braking or some worse situations. How will the mod ensure its properly stress and crash tested. hence i would not recommend trying this out.

Transferring googlemaps to ICE is virtually impossible. You will need to port over android on the HU to get googlemaps working. Secondly googlemaps work with real time network connection. There is lot of S/W dev work required to make this happen.

I am sure after market mod would be possible to make the LEDs always running at the expense of electrical wiring change. But given there brightness I dont think its useful in day time at all.
