I even figured out how to remove that third row seat. I am looking for some sort of strong netting and some hooks which will keep the luggage from falling to the passenger side on turns etc. Would welcome suggestions if some lone has tried this, the same solution can be applied to the 700. Thanks

Sorry I meant 'reliability/effectiveness' as I agree on the usefulness, if it works.

I used a Baby Security Gate/Pet Gate tucked between the two foldable seats in the third row. Worked great. No sharp protruding edges that may damage the seats. No luggage rolling over. Haven't tried in 700. The family has grown bigger over the years :-).

Looks like an AX5 variant from the alloy design so there is no AEB, I'm sure the owner must now be wishing he went with the ADAS version.

I wonder if there are short carrier frames which don't' overlap on the sunroof area and just sit at the rear end. Since it is going to be a small carrier, limitation of the cosmetic' roof-rails may not matter much.
It has the alloys of the AX5 variant which doesn't have ADAS.

I think the pictures and article both suggest it wasn't AX7 .
Moreover my idea about sharing it was to stress upon the 5 star safety rating which ofcourse is calculated without adas. I think the car seemed to be strong enough to protect the occupants.

Had there been adas in it , the car might have protected itself too

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi guys

I have a doubt, would appreciate your help on the same. I was trying to set a time/geo - fence for the car in the AdrenoX app but whenever it leaves the designated area, there is just a notification on the phone. I was hoping for it to be a continuous beeping alarm of sorts, so that I am alerted in the case of theft. Can this be changed from the settings or something, if anyone has been able to figure it out?

MY EXPERIENCE WITH AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

I drive AX7L D AT. I have driven close to 1000km

My experience with AEB has not been great. Before buying, I thought the feature to be very helpful and improve passenger safety.

However, out of the 5 times AEB has automatically applied brakes, I felt 4 times it was not at all needed. In one case I was driving on an open flyover and the vehicle applied brakes automatically. Thankfully no one was coming from behind. In yet another case, there was a lady walking way outside the left range of the vehicle and it applied brakes. In the other cases also, it was due to motorbikes/ vehicles cutting in or pedestrians crossing when the vehicle was dead slow. I felt it was not needed.

I strongly believe that sudden application of brakes when you are not expecting leads to a potential dangerous situation.

I am scared of this feature and will discuss with service engineers.

Will be keen to know experience of other fellow owners.

Both these cases should not have triggered AEB. As per manual if you are facing frequent false decelerations it could be a radar misalignment issue.

Try changing the AEBS warning level to late and see if it makes things any better in congested scenarios. I’m afraid most owners will turn the system off due to such annoyances. Perhaps an additional option to limit/disable AEB if speeds are below 30km/hr would be an acceptable trade-off.

On the xuv it won't be possible to have the carrier after the sunroof as the sunroof itself covers quite a bit of roof area plus after the sunroof ends there's this shark fin antenna

It's like for Scorpio owners. After switching on the engine, before releasing the parking brake, switch off the micro hybrid system.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

My experience with Lane Keep Assist

I drive AX7L D AT. My model comes equipped with ADAS and lane keep assist is part of ADAS. The technology helps keep the vehicle in the middle of lane by automatically operating steering wheel.

I find the technology completely useless for India. The way vehicles run on Indian roads, this technology only increases chances of an accident.

Yesterday I had a 200km run on eastern peripheral expressway and used this feature. There were many vehicles running in the middle of lane marking even on an open road. Lane keep assist was full time fighting with me to keep the vehicle in the middle of a lane which could have potentially led to accident. While giving indicator does turn off, I am uncomfortable driving with a technology which is trying to fight with me all the time.

I have turned it off. Will be keen to get other owners perspective

This is one of the reasons why I opted for AX5 Auto. Though AX5 misses on several creature comforts I am not missing most as I come from a 3rd gen Honda City S variant.

ADAS is not proven and in an Indian context I felt it would be dangerous. It is better to switch off and may be try it in a NH which has a straight line for 5 kms.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hello and greetings to all fellow BHPians,

This is my maiden post and excited to be part of this esteemed forum. I had been an active reader of Team-BHP forum for few years now and has taken guidance from the experiences and insights shared by the members, for any car related decisions. I was hoping to make my maiden post about the delivery of my XUV700 D AT AX7 AWD L variant but the delivery saga of my car is facing unexpected twists and turns that it feels so near yet so far away.

I had booked the car on Oct7th online and was lucky to be in the price protected lot. I was even happier when I received communication from Mahindra that my car will be delivered on Dec 24th. Like for many of us here, soon the date got postponed to Jan 15th and then to Jan 27th. There was no update till Jan 31st when I got a call from dealership (AMPL OMR, Chennai) that the car is allotted to me and I have to start arranging for the payment. I held to my ground that till I finish the PDI, I will not initiate the payment. Not getting any further updates from dealership on the car (and no update on the tracking site), I called dealership again on Feb 7th and almost every day from that day, only to be told that car is not yet dispatched from Mahindra plant. On escalating this to customer service with a tweet which generated some follow-ups and finally, on Feb 14th I was informed that the car has reached the stockyard.

The dealership was very much ok with my terms to match my insurance quote, agreed to waive off incident charges and even arranged a vehicle for taking me to the stock yard for the PDI. The PDI was smooth and I could not see any major issues, other than what looked like a ‘more than normal’ panel gap at the edge of the hood where it meets the front grill panel. Then I noticed that similar gap was seen in many Xuv700s parked, something which I had not noticed before. Happy that everything looked ok, I released the payment on Feb 16th. Being an auspicious day the delivery was planned for Feb 21st as the next auspicious day was 10 days later. All of us in the family were so excited that we could not wait to plan for our first vacation, as my son’s exams were getting over and he had a 1 week break before classes start March 1st week.

Now here comes the twist.

On Feb 18th the SA informed that due to the local body elections the registration might be delayed by a day or two as most of the officials were on leave. He also suggested to go ahead with the Pooja ceremony and take a ‘soft’ delivery, take the car out for a spin and then bring it back to the dealership and leave it there till I get the number plates, latest by Feb 23rd. I agreed to this and we had a wonderful Pooja ceremony.

After the ceremony, the dealership manager gave me the update. They just figured out that Mahindra has not received the approvals for the AX7 AWD L variant from Tamil Nadu RTO for commencing the registration. As per him the State Transport Office has to inspect the variant and sign-off on it before registrations can happen. Till that day the vehicle had not been presented for inspection and it will only be done in next few days. I was told that it will take another 15 days for the approval to come through.

While I knew that the process which he described was correct to my knowledge, I was shocked that even after AX7 D AT AWD L deliveries starting in mid-January pan India, company did not procure the necessary approvals for registration till today. While I understood the complexities of the delivery algorithms, chip shortage and delivery schedule delays, this seemed to me like a major planning lapse which was something that could be avoided. While the dealership blamed it on Mahindra, I also heard from some colleagues that the onus is on the dealerships to procure this approvals. So now my first loan disbursement will be collected from me by the bank when my car is collecting dust in the yard while I wait for another 15 days for the RTO approvals and delivery.

Dealership also says that this is true across State of Tamil Nadu and no dealership has delivered an AX7 D AT AWD L variant so far in TN. I wanted to check with other BHPians if anyone from TN has received this variant and what the dealership is saying might be true or is the dealership taking me for a ride? I have written to Mahindra also on this development and waiting to hear back.

Apologies for the long post. Hopefully I will be able to share the good news of the final delivery with all very soon!!

Cheers and happy motoring.
