Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

I believe EVM Trivandrum may be enabling at least some of these features by default:

Speed Sensitive Autolock: One of my friends has a TDI Highline, and he says the car came with this locking feature active when he took delivery.

Honk on Lock/Unlock: I saw a for-delivery Highline on the showroom floor, and the car honked when locked.

Has anybody heard of NEXEN Tyres? They are a Korean brand, and the tyre guy says they are pretty good.

Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

Does the VW Breeze Edition Touchscreen multimedia player accept input from a reverse camera?

I need to decide between getting this for about 38K (if it will take a reverse camera input with automatic switching) or getting a Caska HU with camera for about 20K more.

First time I'm hearing this name. Why this when you have enough decent choices? Better to stick with stock apollo's than going for these unknown ones.

Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

So you are saying that it will take a reverse camera input?

And can I then also have the reverse sensors connected to it to provide a visual indication as well as the audio indicator?

The VW unit comes with the iPod, USB and one microSD slot along the bottom bezel of the player.

Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

It should be compatible. There are threads on the forum where people have installed this unit in their vento's. Please do check, you may get answers to all your questions.

By the way, there are much cheaper options available compared to caska like witson, motevo etc. While these units do a good job of giving you the OEM fit and finish, if your priority is SQ, you need to be looking elsewhere.

I'd suggest live with the stock unit for a while and upgrade in stages when you feel the need.

Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

Hi Bala,

What are the features that we need to get activated through VAS? I know of one feature, the Speed Sensitive Autolock. I saw another on the forum, Honk on Lock/Unlock. Are there any other features?
Thanks

Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

Big Blue is Home.

We just got some new shoes too - Michelin Primacy LC 195/60/R15.

Next it's off to Jerry's on Monday for a Kenwood HU, reverse camera and miscellaneous other stuff.

Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

Thank, Bala. I will use this list to check with Volkswagen Downtown.

I asked the SA to get the Speed sensing auto lock enabled, before delivery. He assured me that it was done but actually not done. When I asked him about it, he informed that the feature can be activated for a fee. I did not accept that and asked him to confirm, which he is yet to do. I will check with him again next week.

Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

Typical VW sales guy. Dont pay him a rupee, this should have been done as a part of the dealer PDI and if he hasnt done it, its his fault. Give him a piece of your mind.

Ask him how he activated the music system in the car with VAS during PDI. Every VW dealer is the same, irrespective of the location, they just dont know what they are talking about.
