The odometer reading seems genuine since the last service was done at Honda in June, 2015 at 21,000 kms. Also I will be sending the car over to the Honda authorised service centre for a detailed checkup before buying the car.

Also thanks for the pointers, I will specifically ask for these to be checked.

Best,
Enigmatic.
Make sure to ask for detailed service history as well right from the beginning. Honda has a centralized system so other dealers service records will also be available.

Thanks once again Sumeet will ask for a detailed service history.

On another note, how much do you think I should pay for this particular civic?

In your eperiece how much should I pay for it and what all should I look out for?

Many thanks,

Hi Enigmatic,

I had bought a 2010 model black color VAT with 41000 Kms on the odo with service history. And brand new battery and set of tyres replaced from Honda @ 38000 Kms for 4.25 lacs in delhi. This was last year same time. So price should be close to 4lacs. How much is the owner asking for?

That's correct. A trusty FNG would be able to fix the same at a reasonable cost. Just be careful when they remove the bolt. Mine was rusted and impossible to unscrew so they has to break it, thereby needing to replace the struts too. They did need to be replaced so it turned out okay in the end.

Hey Nik,

The dealer was earlier quoting 6.85 Lakhs but post negotiations he has come down to 5.90 Lakhs. I am hopeful that post the check-up at the service centre he will come down further, however that wouldn't be by much.

The online portals for evaluation (including Team-Bhp) all quote a price of 6.35 to 6.75 lakhs for it.

The car is in excellent condition, however I am not sure if the price is right.

P.S. You got an amazing deal on your Civic

Going by the market prices, the price quoted to you by the dealer and the portals doesn't look reasonable. It's a discontinued car and moreover a D segment petrol. This isn't a good combination as far as resale value is concerned.
I'll go with nik. 4-4.5 lacs should be a reasonable valuation.

Regards.

Thanks, Saket.

I will try to bring down the price further post the check-up at the service centre. Will keep you all updated.

You should be aware that there is a dichotomy between cars sold by dealers and those sold by individuals; dealers sell at a 20℅ or higher premium, after some superficial work such as waxing the car and fixing minor scratches. If you're willing to wait and act fast (i.e. have the car checked at HASS the same day and make an offer) when the right private party ad comes along, you could shave a lakh or more off the quoted price for a comparable example.

I was hunting for City/Civic ATs a couple of years ago; The dealers seemed to be quoting 6-ish lakhs, which I had set apart for the purchase. I finally ended up with an '08 Civic AT, with 66K on the odo after a search for a couple of months. Car was in great condition; the owner was buying a Range Rover and had tasked the JLR dealership with selling his Civic. I ended up getting it for 4.4; a deal I was quite pleased with. I was the first to see the car, have it examined at HASS and seal the deal. This is all in Bangalore, btw, where prices are fairly inflated due to the insane lifetime road tax.

That looks real bad.
How's your fluid levels? Clutch, brake and Ps?

Grease seems to have come out from the tie rod ends.

Then I guess it is only that if your fluid levels are ok.

Axle CV Joint grease boot is broken, change it ASAP. Otherwise you will have to sacrifice the joint, and the axle.

Hey Coolvenk,

Thanks for your suggestion. I have given the dealer a more realistic offer however, I doubt whether he will come down.

I got the car checked at HASS and they have given it a clean chit.

Let's see how it goes. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Best,
Enigmatic

Axle boot was changed for this.

It was actually found to be the strut bearing when the strut was removed. The mount was fine. The noise is gone now.
