For both: Avoid any sort of 3M product offers from the Honda dealers. Especially in Pune, 3M has closed their tie-up with Honda dealerships, due to incorrect application of 3M products by the Honda staff. Many customers came back complaining to 3M and then 3M inspected the way Honda staff were applying their products and found discrepancies. So please be wary of this.

Do start your ownership threads soon.

All the best !
Thanks a lot for the heads-up on 3M. I booked at Deccan Honda but it needed a lot of my past sales experience and patience to cut that deal. Am happy the way it went but could not have been possible without the subdued sales during the festival season. Life's tough for the auto industry

The only other freebies were a 3k corporate discount, body cover and mats. All in came up to 7.4L. Delivery expected in 2nd week of Nov.
When did they decide to introduce the LED DRLs here? I thought it was only available in the international version. That's nice though!

Congratulations on the booking! Eager to see pics of the DRLs. If they're deployed in a classy-looking manner, I'll get them on my car as well.

Congrats on your new car and wish you many safe miles! Did you consider the CNG option too?

One thing here, handling charge was said to be 'illegal' according to a Delhi HC judgement. There is a thread somewhere in these parts with details. You may want to go through that befor agreeing to pay that remaining 50%

I think the 3M tie up is also not there at VW. Not sure if that is a change or has always been that way. Some VW owner can confirm this. Again not sure what the reasons are.

Also, ain't there no festive discount being offered currently? Personally I do not prefer those DRLs, and I believe 10k is too much just for the DRLs. (Or is there any other change in the car?)
Thanks. I chose petrol because my driving will be quite limited. For the same car, a diesel makes sense only if you are driving ~ 15,000 kms/yr. I am going to be about half that.

No festival discounts beyond the free insurance on the petrol. No freebies on the diesel (no free insurance). On the Honda Brio VMT, which was the other car I was considering, there was a 30k discount + free insurance.

Agree that 10k is steep for the DRLs alone. The salesperson said that the new batch of Astas from Hyundai will have the DRL. They didnt know if there are any other changes to the car.

They introduced the DRLs in the new batch. The showroom didnt have a model on display yet. I will post pics when I take delivery.

Thanks. I am not too great a fan of CNG. Also, these CNG's are dealer fitted and not factory fitted though Honda provides the 2 year warranty. But for folks looking at a cheaper fuel option, it's a great kill. However, i think Honda is just trying to buy time until they bring the big dog diesel version into the market.

On the handling charges, yeah, I did use the 'illegal charges as per Supreme Court' ruse with the sales guy and was able to get the 50% reduction. But they just swear by it and even I was feeling ashamed to push for more discounts than what was already provided to me.

Happy and safe driving to all!

Volkswagen Vento Tdi Highline Vs Skoda Rapid Tdi Elegance is a pitched battle. On roadprice of the Rapid is 11, 36 k. Vento has been slashed to 11, 59 k. ( Chennai prices). For 23 K extra, we get steering mounted audio controls, usb input and After Sales Service which is considerably better than the dreaded Skoda service.

I think it is a no brainer!

It isn't such a no brainer. For VW service experience, read this - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...epair-job.html

Agreed. But Volkswagen is the lesser of the 2 evils, going by the sheer volume of such incidents in Skoda service.

Guys,
Renault is offering me a 2011 Fluence Petrol AT for Rs 15.5 lakh. It has been is their yard and not driven at all. They are also offering 4 yrs warranty. I believe the 2012 model is about Rs 18.11 lakh. What do you all say about the offer? How much mileage does this car give?
Thanks in advance.
(mods,I had posted the same in "Automatic under 16 L" )

I thought you already had a Fluence E2D. Why another petrol Fluence? The petrol Fluence drops value like crazy.

Yeah Mohan, true. But I have been having some health issues, affecting both sides hands and knees, better now. So I want to go for an AT . I love driving, but not been able to do so. My close ones are advising me to have a driver, but I want one more attempt. Bit of a confused state too, regarding which car to buy. We have a Honda Jazz and an WUV at home. I thought of going for an AT Brio, but kids want me to go for a sedan. Fluence ,I know is the most comfortable among D1 cars. Let us see.
Thanks

No idea on whether they stopped selling Civic but when I visited a dealer stock yard last week in Pune, there was not even a single Civic in sight - only City, Brio and Jazz. They may be stocking the Civic(s) in another location but I doubt that too.

Skoda Auto India announces cutback in the discounts

Skoda : Simply Clever

Quote:
The Indian arm of Skoda Auto, a subdivision of the German automotive marque Volkswagen, announced to curtail discounts on its domestic fleet, comprising premium hatchback Fabia, Rapid, Laura and Superb saloons along with the sole Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) offering - Yeti. The surprising decision in the middle of Indian festival season underlines Skoda Auto India's ambitious stance of cutting its dependence on the prevalent Indian auto market practices.
