re: Cheaper options: Spare parts for the Baleno sedan

Does anyone know where I can find a spare ORVM (right-side) housing (called 'cowl'?) for Baleno? I'm looking for just the cover or housing, not the mirror and the motor etc inside. A while back, a goods autorickshaw hit the mirror. The mirror and the housing broke, but the motor inside worked fine. I ordered an SGP replacement mirror (Essar, Bommanahalli) and got it installed. The housing remains broken.

Called up JK Automobiles at JC road, Blore for a quote on lower arms! He quoted 3.5k a piece and said it was some 'imported' brand.

Is it worth going in for these lower arms?

Cheers!

Lower arm is a crucial component of the suspension. Early this year my baleno met with an accident, it was the lower arm which took the major brunt when my car fell into the ditch.

Stick to OEM ones, the imported brand may give way in 10-15k kms of running.

I agree with what you are saying but from what I've seen and heard, a lot of blore members are using lower arms from JK and they don't seem to be having any issues with them. The price difference is quite substantial and with my usage, i would clock 15k in about 4-5yrs!

JK's stuff is good. Go for it, his 'imported' wheel bearings and driveshafts are stil going strong on my baleno after all the abuse I've thrown at it.

re: Cheaper options: Spare parts for the Baleno sedan

So.. Binz came to the rescue yet again!

Since i don't live in blore, I called up JK Auto and spoke to Mr. Srinivas. He texted me his bank a/c details following which i wired him the money! Parts were sent across the same day and i received them safe and sound on the next! All within a short span of 24hrs!

He Charged me 4k for a pair of lower arms and 400 bucks for a set of belts.

Hi James, how are the lower arms doing
On your car? I have the same issue and am getting similar ones from
JK. I am even getting the shocks replaced to TRW ones, very reasonable compared to SGP

I just fixed the arms and new belts today. Ive never known my car to be so silent. LOL
I have Koni's so i hope i wont have to change shocks in the near future.
I had to change the rear brake shoes as one liner had broken. Luckily found a set for 780 bucks. It was in Bosch packing but i doubt they are genuine. I had to use them as the SGP ones weren't available- Ive placed an order for the same!

Cheers!

If you can open the steering rack assembly and get the seals out, you should be able to get them at most industrial supply stores, after showing the sample , it probably is one oil seal and an O Ring or similar.

If the seals have a part number you'd also get it at the mgp distributor ..will be a SGP part so will cost a bit.

re: Cheaper options: Spare parts for the Baleno sedan

Has anyone changed the front grill of their baleno? The OEM part is a flimsy plastic one that keeps getting chipped at the edges and mine has developed multiple cracks.

re: Cheaper options: Spare parts for the Baleno sedan

I got my baleno's axle repaired an year back, they have again started to fail, any one has got it changed recently? The OEM one's are around Rs 12k, and as i plan to sell the car in a year or two, i want to have a cheaper alternative.
