Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

I just bought a Philips relay kit. My old swift (2009?) has very weak headlamps, I am currently using average H4 55w bulbs. What do you recommend so that my canisters do not melt, I see that 100w+ are melting things up.

No I havent. It will be quite tough to search for them since they dont really have a 'name', they are just called new 2015 HID or something very generic like that so you will get lots of useless results. Maybe you could try contacting the sellers from the links I posted, they might be able to help. Besides, my Aliexpress is screwed up and keeps defaulting to Italian so its a pain to use now

Thanks to you, I ordered them and its already out for delivery. 299 was a steal price and thought it would be a good upgrade to my Celerio, since 100/90 was overkill for the car. Will install it tonight and post comparo

This is the classic result when stocks are over. The bulbs are now sold out.

Xenon Planet has introduced new projector called XP Micro. It's waterproof and comes with mounting. These can be mounted on bumper or could be used in place of stock fog lamps. I am planning to install it in my S-Cross soon.

Re: Auto Lighting thread : Post all queries about automobile lighting here

The bulbs arrived this morning itself, since it was dispatched from Cloudtail's hoskote warehouse.

Genuine and the latest version with all the labels and MRP is 800 per piece. This was a steal at 299 and thank goodness the order was not limited to one per customer

Got down and installed on my Celerio which earlier had Osram Bilux 60/55 from factory. Here are raw comparison pictures with the XV+ on the left side and Osram on the right

Low beam:

The LHS wing is more intense on the XV+ and we get whiter light, which I always prefer philips for. Helps a lot on the highway with the rally too having a similar characteristic. The hotspot is more intense which will mean better spread on the open road.

High beam:

Exposure was reduced for this image to make the hotspot comparison clearer between the bulbs. Here we can see that the bulb is whiter, and has a bigger hotspot which will ensure more spread and little more reach compared to the stock bulb.

Though it does look good here, I dont take their 130% numbers seriously. The intensity might be somewhat close to the Osram 100/90 on my SX4, but get a genuine Phillips rally 100/90 and the rest will be shadowed easily.\

Like I mentioned before, this bulb is a worthy upgrade at this price, and given that my Celerio doesnt see much of night driving, forget highway in comparison to my SX4. Recently I found out that the Osram 100/90 on my SX4 were useless compared to the Rallys I had earlier.

Now time to scoot for Made in Germany Rallys which are really hard to find.

Thanks again SunnyBoi for the alert on the offer!

Please keep us updated. I too am thinking of installing these in place of the fogs. Can you please share the cost?

However yesterday I got my LED headlamps. Woohoo!

These LED bulbs are fanless and they go perfectly into the dust cap on my headlight; sealing even better than the stock H4 bulbs did!

A video of them in action. Very happy with them.

Although while installing I realised my passenger side reflector was drooping down, the screw holding it up as per headlamp adjuster level has fallen off. I need to open up the headlamps to fix it, I might as well put in projectors in them.

Hi, where did you buy the LED headlamps from? Also are they plug and play or a mod in wiring is required. Do they have a longer throw compared to the halogens and HID's?

Hi, I havent got a reply yet, so asking my question again. If I have non-ceramic bulb holders and philips relay kit mentioned above, & i dont want my normal holders to melt, which bulbs should I buy to replace my stock 55w OEM bulbs which have become dull? Philips Rally? Philips Xtreme Vision?

I own a Swift 2013 model and have been using Philips Rally (100/90W) with wiring harness for over 2 years now (Check my ownership thread for all details). It is absolutely reliable and there if no deformation or any alteration to the headlights at all. My usage is heavy so lights are ON for a longer duration.

If you need more light, upgrade the bulbs with suitable harness. If not then get Philips Xtreme Vision bulbs (60/55W). For this bulb there is no need for extra wiring harness or holders.
