What is that material which you're using? And is it any effective in holding back the heat a bit and the sound of the rain?

Can you please share the mounting bracket that you have used and how did you fix it to the frame?

Also what's the overall increase in height after you added the roof carrier?

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Final Update before the Red Beast gets delivered tomorrow.

PDI - check
Payment - check
Loan - check
Car exchange - check
Official Accessories - check
Fasttag - check
Registration - check
Gift for SA - check
Delivery - awaited for tomorrow

Finally the day is near when the Red Beast will come home. Lots of mixed feelings as I am giving away the comfort of a normal car to get into Jeeping territory. But I am a firm believer that while "necessity is the mother of invention", in special times "invention is the mother of necessity ". In my case, Thar’s invention in its new avatar is the mother if necessity to get one and live the Jeep life. The childhood dream to roar up the mountains on a jeep, we call Thar.

Tomorrow I am going to check the car before registration! Any critical checks to be taken care before delivery?

Also inputs on keeping in mind things during first drives?

TIA

Some other interesting ACI drag race figures of automatics for comparison -

Honda Civic Petrol CVT - 18.664 seconds.
MG Hector 1.5 Petrol DCT - 18.747 seconds.
Wow Petrol Thar is faster than Honda Civic
How over the years Mahinda has risen and Honda (India) has fallen!!!

Finally getting to do my PDI tomorrow in Sireesh Silk Board, might bump in during your delivery too.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Finally cancelled my Thar booking, booked a day before the price hike was announced, 7 months ago! The same dealership which ad no clue about the delivery suddenly calls after I cancel online to say someone else's same model is available in 4-5 days! Rubbish. Cancelled anyways, they gave me too much time to contemplate this decision. Hopefully when I get it in a year or two, the niggles will be gone.

I was under the impression (was informed by Mahindra Service Agent), that the actual price of the vehicle will be determined at the time of delivery, not at the time of booking. So if there's a price hike from date of booking to delivery, you would still need to pay at the current price, not the price on the day of the booking.

Any truth to this?

No. Peeps who booked before Dec 1 are given price protection, i.e. they will pay the introductory prices only.

JW, I am awaiting you car delivery too
I can see that you drive an Ecosport whose suspension is on the harder side compared to cars in its range. I am contemplating to get a 5 door Thar when it arrives. Can you please enlighten me regarding the difference in ride comfort between the two?
I know you have waited long and finally your most awaited day is here. Even I could not wait for the delivery and few days of ownership experience by you to post this query. Though Apple and Orange, a comparison especially regarding the ride quality between the tow would be very helpful.
Congratulations and thanks in advance.

Was great to meet you in person and thanks for adding me to the group. Sorry could not spend more time in the excitement of the delivery. Hope your delivery goes smooth and many happy miles.

Thanks mate. Well I have only driven the Thar from dealership to home (only 7 kms so far) so still very initial experiences and that too in the excitement of getting the beast after waiting 9 months. But I will make sue I come back documenting my experiences post few kms (I have a very long one planned in 3 weeks, so will be perfect to post experience post that).

One thing I can surely say, Thar goes through potholes in a much softer way as compared to my Ecosport. The ride to home was supple and the softer set up feels good. Highway experience is something I need to wait for.

Sharing my delivery snapshot with all:
