I remember this OD abbreviation when it stood for Over Drive and not Overdosing .

But seriously, it just adds one more risk layer during chancy overtakes on narrow Indian roads. Not only does the driver need to kickdown, he/she also needs to simultaneously press the OD button for any meaningful progress.

By the way, when is the price reveal happening and is it through a physical event, or simply released online through a press release / social media?

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Across team-bhp threads, the Jimny discussion would be well into 200 pages. I am not sure if we have ever had a yet-to-be launched vehicle go into these many pages.

While many are keeping an eye on the Jimny price reveal, I am sure not as many will buy it. The Jimny will create a halo effect for Maruti Suzuki, by removing notions of it being a safe company with a boring portfolio.

In my opinion, once launched, the Jimny will have its set of niche, but very vocal and passionate fans. I might be one of those - I have zero need for the Jimny, I already have two cars, and the Jimny doesnt fit any of my requirements, and yet I have booked the Jimny and waiting for the price reveal with bated breath.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Maruti Suzuki Jimny launched at Rs 12.74 lakh for the entry-level Zeta trim, and going up to Rs 15.05 lakh for the top-spec Alpha trim.

That is too much for the Jimny.
The Thar more car for the money in comparison.
And has proven that it is SAFE.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

There goes the dream of an affordable off roader. This is a freak show of pricing. Rs.14.89 lacs? That is a lot of money for a thing which ultimately excels only in one place. Off the road.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Another day, another damp squib launch. This is wayyy overpriced from Maruti.

15L ex showroom means 17.5L on road, which makes no sense whatsoever for Jimny. Thar with its far superior engines and transmissions costs similar money. Those looking for only the show/style part don’t even need to bother looking beyond the far cheaper RWD Thar, which will have lower running costs too. Mahindra will be rubbing their hands with glee.

This screams S Cross 1.6/Kizashi fiasco all over again

Nexa in secret collaboration with Mahindra to make the Thar seem VFM.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Suddenly the THAR looks even more VFM.

Well that was expected, MSIL knows this is not a volume muncher like WagonR or Baleno or Brezza, so they are going for profits (+ selling lot of overpriced accessories).

MSIL's brand name and Jimny' s capability (off road) would certainly attract the segment who owns primary car already and needs something suited for their aspiration or some unique use cases.

Overall price is a big let down.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Mahindra must be having a sigh of relief. This is way too overpriced. Ideally, Zeta MT should have been priced from 9.99 ex-showroom.

Also, I have heard Mahindra dealers are currently giving 40k off on Thar. Good time to shift the bookings.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

I was in the market for a small SUV, The Jimny was my first choice just for the looks of it, I didnt need an off-roader, But man these prices are crazy high.

I know its not a like to like comparision but I might as well wait for the updated Nexon which will easily cost the same as Jimny Alpha AT OTR, But with all the bells and whistles and a good safety rating.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

I agree the pricing is ridiculous but please note this is not for common use and MSIL has set a very modest sales target which is not their norm.

Frankly, I still don't understand MSIL. it is like they want their most adventurous launches always to fail. S-cross 1.6, Baleno RS and now Jimny. The message seems to be " From the MSIL part we did all we could but the public did not want it so we are going back to cheaper cars!"
