Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Thankfully the doctor didn't drop me head first as I was born.

Was waiting for the pricing, and there goes the Jimny dream. I don't know why anyone would pay that money for that package, what with door panels shaking as you use the windows and all, what a joke. Premium means 4x4? No thanks.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

A bit high priced for an augmentation which Indian's measure by size.

Old Question:
When the Gypsy was properly available how much was it priced (over/above) vs.that era's Maruti's stable offerings? Was it a niche product, or a general offering, but tuned to a different crowd.

Maybe: we all will be collecting Jimny's 15 years from now. And it becomes a cult like the Gypsy.

A made in India product and iconic at that, had a glimmer of hope somewhere that it would be reasonable. But this is so dead on arrival pricing! Kudos MSIL.

I will most probably cancel and enjoy the Pajero SFX for a few more years.

Just waiting to see the on-road pricing in Chennai and consider downgrading to the Zeta AT or MT. I had booked the Alpha AT Kinetic Yellow which is 15+ ex showroom.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Now we need to see how much the Thar 5D would be priced. Would it be priced above or below the Scorpio N?

Quite possible. Looking at the numbers they might be selling.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Insane pricing!
All the very best to you, Maruti Suzuki. Please return my INR 25K (or INR 24.5k). Thank you very much.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

I don't know why MS thinks this is a "premium" offering.
It is at best a very basic old school humble off roader, which many of us like and praised it for this very reason but this ridiculous pricing by MS has dampened all the joy!

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Unfortunately, I'm going to cancel my booking. At this price, the Jimny doesn't make sense at all.

It's not about affordability. It's the principle of paying the right money for a product. Like a football club doesn't go beyond a certain level for a player, consumers should also evaluate VFM. Same reason why I don't buy luxury Germans (I know i'm the one losing out).

I can understand MSIL wanting to cash in on the hype, best of luck to them. I am sure they will still sell a lot of Jimny's.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Well, I guess Mahindra is the real winner here. MSIL just blundered on the price. I had an inkling and thankfully saved losing any money whatsoever on the cancellation.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

While this is crazy expensive for the car that offers 2 more doors than thar, inferior AT gearbox and engine combo, it might not workout for Maruti because Mahindra showrooms' presence is comparable to Maruti. But I wanted Jimny to be atleast marginally successful, otherwise there won't be any competetion to Thar and Mahindra will increase the prices again , eventually monopoly will continue with little competetion from Forcemotors.

On a different note, we might be wrong. Because as a community we felt Fronx was over priced but Maruti sold ~9000 units in April. Which might've given confidence to Maruti to price Jimny like this, but i feel Jimny is not a mainstream car like Fronx.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Bit disappointed with the pricing. On road price in Bangalore for Alpha AT is 17.2 lacs and Zeta AT is 16.1 lacs!

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Our local Nexa man sent me the prices on whatsapp an hour or so ago.

I still love this little Jimny. But then right now Im keeping my Gypsy.

The Jimny AT Alpha was the one I’d have wanted but the taxes and insurance in KA will push it over the top on price. Even the Alpha MT would have been ok.

I ll not compare Jimny and Thar. That is futile and is an incorrect comparison. All this ‘road presence’ etc is just an euphemism for ‘might is right’.

I ll still say the Jimny will give hill and mountain users a lot of bang for the buck because of its capability, narrowness and small footprint but those users will have to be pretty well off folks.

As there was in the case of the Thar, here also there will be quite a few cases of Buyer’s remorse as well, so around 6 months to 12 months down the line there will be quite a few Jimnys available in the used market.

Any car now makes better sense if one is able to wangle BH registration and thus reduce the tax burden.
