18" alloy wheels from MX5 - Hope this is available at a nominal cost (15K per alloy?)
MX3 P AT is by far the highest VFM variant across the whole range. Good choice on booking this varaint. It also comes with rear disc brakes which the MX3 D AT does not get, despite being 2.5 lakhs more expensive. The price difference between P AT and D AT is 50K for all other variants, but 2.5 lakhs in the case of MX3, so you save a clean 2 lakhs ex-showroom.

Also the Diesel comes with a detuned engine while the petrol gets the full blown 177 HP and 370 NM. VAG group used to give a very similar state of tune for thier 2.0 TSI engines, but only for the highest end cars such as the Passat and Superb costing 40 lakhs plus. Nowadays even the A4 gets only the 320NM tune and only the A6 gets 370NM Torque and that costs 70 lakhs.

The 18 inch alloy wheel spares apparently cost 90K for a set, per some of the posts I saw here earlier, but the official accessory catalogue and price list does not seem to be available anywhere.

Thanks for sharing the details. Is the price in accessory list inclusive of tax and labor/fitting charge?

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Thar Roxx scores 5 star in Bharat NCAP (Mahindra Thar Roxx scores 5 stars in BNCAP tests). It is commendable feat as Mahindra is able to get 5-star rating for body on frame car like Thar. Bharat NCAP may or may not be 1:1 comparison with GNCAP.
Mahindra can showcase 5-star crash rating on Thar Roxx, while Jeep Wrangler Rubicon can't show their crash rating.

I feel some customer might have cancelled their booking or is unable to arrange finances and you are the next in queue, so dealership is able to provide a car earlier

Are you taking insurance from dealership or outside?
Is the dealer mandating to purchase accessory worth couple of thousands?
Can you share on-road price breakup if possible?

Please share your PDI experience if possible

Very well decision by you, I have not done the TDs of Thar Roxx or the 7OO, but I can bet that a lifestyle vehicle can't match the comfort level of a proper family car, even a 7 seater lifestyle vehicle can't beat a 5 seater crossover in terms of comfort and ride quality.

Just a note on the prices. Those are discounted prices if the customer avails all the accessories. Otherwise each item will cost a few hundreds/ thousands over the listed prices in that brochure. However, the dealer may provide some discount even if you don't go for full kit.

Also, the prices are inclusive of everything ( tax, labour fitting etc).

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Instead of Keychain & Mug as a gift, Mahindra should gift one of these. I am sure customers would appreciate more😁

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

My MX3 P AT 2 WD (Stealth Black) has an estimated delivery between 12 Dec to 11 Jan. Constantly in touch with my dealer. It hasn't been billed as yet, unsure if it will be delivered within this window, earlier or later. There is no news either on anyone in my region who has booked the same variant, cancelled it or deferring taking delivery and which can be redirected to me --- you can make out, I am finding this waiting period agonizing!

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Hello folks!
This will be my first post in the forum, that I have long followed and been a silent member of. Tried joining before but I guess the mods, didnt find my application filled and ticking all boxes.

A bit of history: Have had an interest in cars and bikes for long. My history:
Bikes - Apache (the original red shown in ads); Karizma (actually wanted this first, but when Dad pays, you dont get to call the shots); RE Bullet 500-Teal (Dad challenged me to get the bike on my own money while i wanted this replacing the Apache - Kind of inspired me to hold the dream and make it happen with my salary); RE Interceptor-Silver Spectre (Covid hit months after i got the bike. Pretty hard caring for it and pushing it down the road to start it due to battery drain myself. Realized by the end of Covid, priorities changed and I was not doing justice to it. Lucky a fellow Team BHPian bought it of me and also put in a review of his buying process from me).

Cars - Still own a Hillman Minx (Granddad's), Seen Padmini, couple of vans, Mahindra Armada (grand parents), Santro-original, Honda City-Dolphin version, Vitara Brezza-first card on my own, i10, Kia Sonet (both at grand parents), Nexon and Kushaq (at in laws), Mahindra Marazzo, Tata Harrier, Grand Vitara-Hybrid, now own the Thar Roxx.

Booking history - Had prior experience with Mahindra's famed delivery system when i wanted the XUV700 and the XUV400. Gave up on them and took the Tata Harrier. Bad after sales service and pathetic support screwed my experience and i let go of the Harrier for the Grand Vitara.

Had my eye on the 5D version of the Thar, right from the time the 3D was launched. Friends and later my wife knew this about me. So unless Mahindra literally failed the product, the target wasnt changing. Booked in advance with a dealer around Aug15th (after testing the 3D version, 1st time). But after the booking, the contact kept repeating same info and slowly reduced contact.

Not giving up, I waited till Sept 28th to find some info, keeping abreast of the forum discussion and questioned the showroom guy. When actual TDs started, the guy simply asked me to find my way to a showroom nearly 25kms away from my place. Waited and saw the car in display in a showroom and immediately went in for a TD. TD car wasnt available on the day. Went to another showroom, TD'd the AX7L DMT. Was sold the minute i took a U turn, on a busy 40-60 ft 2way road (NM road), in a single go. Had wife and kid with me then. Wife was at 50% but wasnt sure of the model to go for.

Enter Team-BHP, my poor wife, brother-in-law and fellow BHPian-Slipstream (a friend for quite sometime, someone i learnt gokart racing from, enjoyed track day, his Gypsy, modified swift and life discussions). Have troubled these 3 people a lot seriously with discussions and doubts. Decided on either a MX3 PAT or a AX5L DAT 4x2. But since I hadn't tested the DAT, went to another showroom on Mount road and TD'd it. This time, wife(someone with motion sickness and having been at the backseat of the Marazzo) gave a go ahead, also commenting on the view and that the ride didnt feel different from the Marazzo. Came to know the showroom was the same dealer as before, hence complained and got to shift the booking to another guy who was more open, clear in communication and supportive.

Come Oct 3rd, there were 2 bookings on my name, each for the versions mentioned above. 1 by the showroom for DAT and 1 online by me for PAT.
Following the waiting period discussion wasnt doing any good and I pushed the Showroom guy for information. Both bookings were in the 1013series.

Waiting for delivery - Pushed my family, showroom guy to the hilt for info and reading TD reviews. Questioned my decision to go for the Roxx, but my connect to the Armada as a kid in the boot and as a driver, my wife, BIL and Slipstream's go ahead for the Roxx kept me inline. Travelled to Hyd for a few days and saw the customer owned Roxxs at a petrol pump. Deliveries had started there on account of Dusshera, but not in Chennai. Got back from Hyd and questioned the showroom guys.

Got the call 1 morning stating AX5L DAT Deep Forest will be available, if i went ahead. A bit in 2 minds between PAT and DAT and cost of ownership, Slipstream and me did the math and the fact of owning unique clean DAT in a petrol filled market leaned me in. Paperwork completed within 3 days.

Delivery - Call it whatever alignment, the car landed at the yard, I wasnt allowed at the yard for PD, but then pushed the showroom guy for every pic of everything before closing the booking. Stood firm against their push for insurance and accessories, which reduced my outflow. All done and dusted, everything aligned for delivery on my mother's milestone birthday. Then a googly by my parents, stating they were taking a train on D day.
Pushed the showroom folks a bit more and aligned for the delivery on Oct24th. Took the delivery and got to know that the Roxx is 1 among the 1st few in town. Unlimited attention and questions!! Even valets in hotels and customers gather around the car before parking.

Experience - Smooth, from the time i changed the showroom connect. Promptly after delivery, received messages from Mahindra on customer service and escalation matrix (new for me from Maindra, but used to in Maruti). While i pressed the showroom and my luck, coming to know that I would be amongst the lucky few also meant i would be in the Guinea Pig batch. Vehicle does well. Havent taken it for a very long drive, but in the 1000+ kms, acts, does as expected.

Issues - 1. The infotainment and the driver display screen blanked out and shut off mid drive. Screens went off, but connected music still ran. Then music was muted and volume rose at will. Raised this with the servicing and showroom staff. Car was collected and held back for review. Got to know all software was flashed, re installed and checked through 2 days before handing the vehicle back to me. Havent yet faced another issue.

The gearing feels a bit different to the Marazzo or the Vitara. Feels like its holding on to 2nd/3rd gears harder and longer than upshifting - whether traffic or not. (In MT, i would have upshifted to ease the engine and reaped the benefits.) Maybe a fault or maybe I need getting used to.

Accessories -
3D mats. Resisted everything else, simply for ease of installation, use.
Mudflaps - from company. However, there's no cover for the footstep near the back wheel. Gets dirty quickly.
Sunfilm (70:30)
Blinds (Zipper type)

Quirks - The white interior and couple of fingerprints on the headliner. Wondering if seat covers, bottom dash, doorpads need extra work or is it easier to maintain with just some foam spray.

Had earlier written this out as a part of my joining form entry, but dont think this came out. Do share your thoughts and tips.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Sorry about this possible duplicate post, folks. I tried searching for this data on this thread but could not find a definitive answer.

What is the real-world mileage in the city for Thar Roxx Petrol Automatic?
Further to the above, is there a huge jump in mileage from Auto -> Manual or Petrol -> Diesel?

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Reached out to a couple of DSAs around North and South, all variants are available with them. They are quoting premium of ~50K to ~2.37K for AX7L variants.

Ample stock is available with them, not sure how there is so much availability when the customers are not getting their bookings from respective dealers.

That could precisely be the reason.

Many like me who had booked early enough (with a booking number of 9996939) have still not heard back from either the dealer or Mahindra despite multiple followups.

Who knows they might be blocking those ones and trying to sell them at a premium. You shouldn't be surprised if the Mahindra Sales Managers themselves are hand in glove with the dealer.
