Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Please write emails also to the following two addresses to complain about daily FUP, first is CEO of BSNL and second is Director of Consumer Fixed Access department:

cmdbsnl@bsnl.co.in and diro@bsnl.co.in

I have just now written email to these addresses mentioning bad move to change from monthly to daily FUP and to please change it back!

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Breaking News, it seems there is a circular out now notifying BSNL to restore the plans 777 and 1277 but now called as "500 GB Plan" and "750 GB Plan" with monthly FUP!

Hopefully this will come into effect in the next few days! Fingers crossed!

Looks like many people complaining on PG Portal and twitter and email might have actually made a difference.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I moved to Hathway at Bangalore from Airtel. The plan is 800 p.m+taxes, 1000 GB per month, 50 MBPS speed. It has been good so far. Hardly any downtime faced.
Reason for moving from Airtel was low monthly GB limits for price offered. So broke my 10 year association with Airtel.
From what I hear, post JIO fiber's takeover of hathway, all Hathway subscribers can be converted to Jio at minimum cost when the service is available in our area. Will wait for Jio.

What are the broadband options available in Trivandrum? Or is it an Asianet monopoly? I have Asianet but their service is patchy with frequent outages, so would like to try something different.

Airtel used to be there. No idea of packages on offer though.

Using Time Broadband in Bangalore. Plan gets changed for good atleast twice a year (tariff reduced and data increase). Currently pay 590 for 100GB 50Mbps inclusive of all taxes. Pretty reliable. Hardly 4-5 hours downtime per month. Happy so far

Been using since Mar 2019; consistent speed, no disconnection, stable, able to get 97 Mbps most of the time. Tariff yet to know as they haven't introduced any plans until now, so its only my initial refundable deposit of Rs 4500 that has dented my wallet

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Just FYI.
Rs.2500 security deposit Plan comes with a 2.4 GHz single band router and RS 4500 comes with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
So, the maximum speed on 2500 plan will be 50-60 mbps. If you want the full 100 mbps speed then opt for 4500 plan.

I am currently using Jio fibre since couple of months with 4500 deposit. Speed is usually in the range of 94-95 mbps.

Has anyone actually got a refund from Jio ? Somehow, I don't trust Reliance enough with this.

Connection is free to use for now. No downtimes. Why will someone get it cancelled and ask for a refund

Though I agree with you about not trusting reliance. Even BSNL is like this. It's been a year since I have disconnected them and still the security deposit is no where to be seen.

Ours is independent house & may be they're charging less for housing societies?

Oh!! I didn't know this although they told me the 2.4 Ghz offers less speed. I was wondering how the heck a lower range provides lesser speed (I was comparing my regular broadband connection that had dual channel of 2.4 & 5.2 Ghz frequency for WiFi for load balancing) & then found out what they said was true. I'm still wondering what's the usage for such dual speeds

If we can trust VW, we can trust Jio

Thank you for this piece of information. Was not aware of the dual band plan. Will definitely go for the dual band option if provided.

The price of broadband has fallen to such an extent that I would not mind retaining my existing connection along with the Jio connection.
I was paying a good amount maybe 10 years back for 1 MBPS unlimited data connection from MTNL Triband.
In that cost, I can opt for two connections now. Only extra expense will be cost of another router.

I had shifted my house and new house has Jio fiber, but the policy of Jio doesnt has transfer as an Option.

Either take the plan Or cancel it.

So, I ended up cancelling my earlier one and taking a new plan at my new house by paying 4.5k again.

The refund, I was told will come in 3 months. Its already 2 months now and I don't know seriously if the money will be returned actually.

Speed wise, its the best, consistent 100Mbps speed and have used already 200+ GB for this month.

Have been using it for 11+ months now.
