Ok, there is an update.

Yesterday morning, I had spoken to customer care guy who had asked me to submit all transaction details giving proof of my payment to them.

Yesterday afternoon, I wrote this message of "Jio not serious of returning the money"

Yesterday evening, I got a message from Jio that the Refund process is initiated.
Today afternoon, the money of 4.5k is back in my bank account.

I don't know if it was my call to the customer care guy OR this post on team-bhp. But the money is back.

All, I would say is that I had an amazingly good experience from Jio right from start (except the last hiccup on refund).

Installation
1. Day 1 morning 11AM, I call the local guy on his cell for connection
2. Day 1, afternoon around 2 he reaches my home
3. Day 1, no physical documents jhanjhat, my thumb impression and all details taken via aadhar. I pay via credit card to the machine brought by him.
4. Day 1, around 4 pm, I get calls for installation
5. Day 1, around 5 pm, installation is done and internet is active

This was an amazing experience, considering the documentation and time taken by Airtel earlier at my place.

So, within a few hours with no document jhanjhat, I had 100 Mbps internet at home. It gave consistently 100 Mbps on various tests.

I stopped other internet service provider.

Used it for 9 months before I had to shift my residence.

Since transfer is not an option, I had to cancel the connection.
It took around 3 months, but I got the 4.5k back.

So, all in all, used 100 Mbps consistent speeds connection (zero minute downtime for 9 months) with zero cost.

After using this, I for sure, can't be complaining about Jio.

Note: I am just a user, not an employee of Jio.

Hi.

Any ACT broadband users in Bangalore who have opted for NETFLIX add-in?

1. Planning to upgrade from ACT Blaze to ACT Storm, the entry level plan in order to avail Netflix cash back.

2. Is it mandatory to go for either 6 or 12 months' upfront payment?

3. Limit on the number of devices.

4. Is ACT broadband compulsory in order to access Netflix (only the devices connected to Wi-Fi or wired LAN can access it)?

5. Any other point worth noting?

Thanks in advance.

Jio site won't help.

Call on their helpline number.

The best way is if you can get hold of someone who handles the installation in your area. But thats the challenge also, how to get this number.

Talk to your friends, colleagues in your city, they would have taken JioFiber, get the number of that person and ask that person to give number of person handling your area. Since its within the same organisation, they will have contact details of fellow colleagues OR that person can find out and give to you.

Try with the number of any one person of JioFiber from the city and a few more calls it takes to get the correct answer and if all is well then you have the installation at your home.

Any Excitel users here? They have entered Bengaluru and are offering very attractive plans. I might ditch ACT for good as their plans are very expensive here.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Previously was paying Rs 5,745 yearly for 3mbps connection, this plan is no longer available, was planning to switch to 20mbps for Rs 7,590 yearly. There's also a 50mbps connection for Rs 12,585 yearly, but i guess 20mbps should suffice incase i plan to switch to streaming content in the future.
This is 5 Net Broadband through my local cable operator.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Has Airtel stopped the data rollover feature ? I don't see any mention of it in https://www.airtel.in/broadband/bangalore .

I have an old plan of Rs 999/- per month @ 210GB/40Mbps. The latest plans on the airtel website offer 300GB for 999/- but it appears that the rollover is missing.

Roll over of data is now a thing of the past. I too was on one such plan of 8 mbps, with roll over benefits.
Most newer Airtel V-fiber plans are mostly unlimited. My plan is 40 mbps unlimited data, no FUP limit. I pay 800+GST, with unlimited landline calls included. And I am quite happy with this plan.

I have stopped DTH since a couple of years now. All my content on TV is streamed. 40 mbps is more than sufficient. Did not feel the itch to shift to 100 mbps jio fiber by paying 4.5k deposit, when there is no deposit required on airtel and they provided the modem+router for free.
Also, because Jio has capped the data. Since a year now, I have stopped worrying about my data consumption, and I would like to continue with that.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Was paying some odd Rs. 1,600 for BSNL BB connection since long. Post Jio hoopla, the bill [by itself] came to some odd 1,300.

I was casually checking and my plan was of 20GB or something per day, revised it to 10GB per day and I am paying some 800/- now.

Hey Shanker - I still see rollover data on my MyAirtel app. My plan is different though - it was 100Mbps Fibre line. They recently(last week) called and upgraded it to 300Mbps for an additional Rs200 a month - with 600GB data . The plan charges that I see is 1600+Tax for it. Since I have deactivated my DTH- this serves me well.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Rs. 600 / Month for 25 Mbps speed through Local ISP. Unlimited, no FUP. Peering active for things like Youtube, Netflix. When I try to do speed test on fast.com, I get 85 Mbps.
Can streaming everything in Full HD.

Never tried fast.com before. It shows my speed as 30Mbps. My ISP promised speed itself is only 15 & that's what I actually get as measured by few other speedtests.

fast.com is (I believe) using Netflix Servers to test the speed. But many ISPs provide peering for Google content or Netlfix and such. I think it saves them on cost of international bandwidth. Like say a local cache of Netflix content on ISPs server (loosely). I can even play Youtube 4K videos in my connection pretty well without any buffering as I have seen speeds reaching 60 Mbps (checked using those nerd stats on youtube video). May be try those things and see what it shows.
Even sometimes, torrents reach speeds of 6 MBps (capital B) which translates into 42 Mbps.
