So bought tickets for Brave.
Nice movie. My 3 year old son liked it a lot.

re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

I saw the Indonesian movie "The Raid : Redemption" .
Its about a SWAT team raiding a Jakarta crime lord's hideout , an impenetrable , multistoried building. And..umm..thats about it as far as the story is concerned. But the action is simply awesome. You do not get bored at any point of time.
The trailer is on youtube, if you like it, you will like the movie as well . The version I saw had rubbish subtitles, but they dont matter anyway.

My rating : 2.5/5.

Aargee, you should watch League of their own. I am surprised how that movie has not been discussed until now. I have seen it like 10 times in the last 20 years.

Most of these movies have been broadcast-ed in any of the English movie channel atleast once; having a DVR does help.

re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Second in Command - This movie is poorly rated by IMDB, but I found the story line of this movie very thrilling though the action can be improved. Its a story of rescuing/defending US embassy amidst of a civil war. I personally found the story line was better or equivalent to Tears of Sun - Second in Command (Video 2006) - IMDb - 6/10

re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

The bad rating is probably because of Van Damme's acting. Generally, real martial artists suck at acting, right from the days of Bruce Lee, Jet Lee, Jackie Chan, Cynthia Rothrock, etc.

But when it comes to fight body language, nobody beats them. Of course, Bruce Lee is the king of realistic fight body language.

Not a big fan of the real martial art movies, but currently Tony Jaa is supposed to be the king of this genre as per people who are big fans of this genre. I have seen one movie of his - Ong-Bak - the fights were amazing (no CGI, but real) but the movie itself I found it dreadful.

The only martial art movies I have liked are Kickboxer and Bloodsport.

But it was well suited for him in that movie; it was a real good movie to keep one in the edge of the seat.

That's probably the reason they don't cry too much But Chan was exception, that's what I feel

Without a doubt & I even doubt no one can equal him in the next century too

I can attribute only one reason - Thai style of martial arts; those guys are even flexible than the Chinese, dreadful like you said. I think Ong Bak, one of the scene where I witnessed a guy even excelling than Tony Jha; point is, he was standing on one hand & fighting with other hand & two legs; quite an amazing scene as to what limits things can be done.

Watch this movie Ip man; will change your perception completely. Another movie that you can enjoy is Kung Fu Hustle, comedy/action.

That's probably Capoeira, not thai.
Yeah, the Thai movie set hardly have stories or anything, in fact they are SO similar to the 80s 90s hindi movies, but the fights are to kill for.
And the accent in the dubbing....I think you said it pretty well there, "Tony Jha"....

Ip man, Ip man2, if you re a fan, do catch flash point too.
same guy, donny yan or yen, its even better.

Plus, If you've liked Ip man, and you haven't caught these, do make it a point : Once upon a time in china 1 & 2.
3 is okay, but not in the class of 1 & 2.

More martial arts, then undisputable 2 & 3.
3 is amazing, scott adkins at his best.
Gonna be awesome if he has been pitted against statham in Expendables 2.
