Rajeev since the roof is black in color & windscreen is transparent you are easily able to see the spots on it. The rest of the Punto being white, you may not able to make out the spots on it. Obviously the lime being citrus in nature has caused a slight corrosion.

I would suggest you to take the car to 3M Car Care, as they would be in better position to rectify the problems. As for the roof, it being a vinyl sticker, I don't think it can be rectified as the corrosion on it acts differently than on paint.

Let us know the outcome & do post some pictures of spots.

I'm afraid if weekly usage of a car shampoo will hamper the paint quality by any means.
There should not be any problem, provided you follow the basics. Use a good quality mitt and a MF towel to dry. Although the more you use shampoo the less will be the life of wax. Try to use Collinite. I have used 2 coats of Collinite and even after 2 months the water still beads as in Day 1. I use shampoo every week and do Quick Details every alternate day, and wipe dust using Jopasu every day.

Thanks mate... I guess Collinite is used for waxing. Right? I've never done waxing before myself & hence not sure how complex it is. Approximately, how much time does it take to do waxing? This thread being very extensive, I'm feeling lethargic to go through the previous notes on waxing on a Saturday

I have another query about using Sonax too. Is it necessary to wash the car with water after washing once with Sonax solution? Or just use the shampoo solution & wipe it off using mitt & MF?

You are correct. Read this and also the posts after that. BTW i could find the information under 2 minutes.

It is advisable to rinse the car with fresh water after a shampoo wipe. Only products like ONR need not require rinsing.

Just an update to my previous post about Vicky.in -- To be fair to them, Karthick from Vicky.in responded positively on email and agreed to refund the full amount. I got back my money yesterday. I gave my feedback to them about their policies and website though no response on that.

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

My car had tiny black dirt spots all over the various horizontal surfaces. This is probably due to the fact that I park the car below a tree most of the time.

So today morning, I tried my hand at claying for the first time. Washed the car thoroughly using Amway car shampoo and dried it nicely with Meguiar's water magnet towel. Then, used Mother's clay bar & Showtime QD to clay out the small black spots from all over the car and finally touched up the car with Meguiars Ultimate Quik Wax.

At the end of two hours, the results were astonishing: a smooth mirror-like finish on all surfaces!!

No this is not the wall. It's the left rear door reflecting the wall!

Nice work Nilieshch. All this in 2 hours is a quick wash. The Last pic and caption is the best. This will now motivate a lot of us to clean our car . Any special treatment for the tyres?

PS Your car looks Crystal Clean.

Thanks @S-21. Nothing special as of now for the rims and tyres. I just used the leftover shampoo water to wash off dirt from the rims and tyres. I want to take it slow and use more specialist products once I gain more confidence! Or else I might just lose interest and the stuff would lie in a corner gathering... err... dirt.

Yes two hours. Because the 'waxing' was easy. I just used a spray-on wax from Megs!

Below average, avoid. Yes, its available only to professionals.

The Mothers clay bar kit is the best available to DIY's.

Great work Nilesh !! - the spray on waxes have a very short life on a daily used car. A better long lasting option is to use a dedicated sealant or wax.

Nice Work Nilesh!
Could you detail out the steps followed with the products that you mentioned.

Yes, I am aware. But they save a lot of time! I'll go for dedicated wax / sealants at some point in the future. Or will come to the experts!

Thanks! I've mentioned it in brief in my original post. But here goes:
  1. I dusted off the car to remove loose dirt.
  2. Then gave a plain water wash to the whole car.
  3. Diluted the shampoo in 4-5 liters of water and whipped up the foam.
  4. Applied the 'shampoo water' on the car using the MF wash mitt and lightly scrubbed all over.
  5. Again, gave a plain water wash to the whole car to remove the shampoo & dirt.
  6. Dried the body using Meguiars Water magnet towel.
  7. In my case there were specific spots which needed claying -- spots that feel rough when you move your fingers over them. You can go ahead and clay the entire body also. I used Mothers California Gold clay bar. Learn about claying in detail here -- .
  8. When claying you will notice that the spot becomes smoother and the claybar gets dirtier on the inner surface. That shows the dirt is being picked up. Once you are satisfied with the smoothness of the spot, wipe off the QD liquid from the spot using the microfibre towel.
  9. After claying, I sprayed on Meguiars quik wax and wiped off the excess wax.
