@Unni
Very bad, those wheels were lying in my garage for about 2 weeks.
One or two rat already shown interest to stay in the box but somehow neibhourhouse cat saw them and killed one. I got fed up and told my wife to give this to the scrapwallas. Suddenly my BLaw brought a guy who has got a 2001 model Ikon and one of his wheel got damaged. I asked him Rs.1500 for all 4 and he took it immediately. (then I understood his old tyres were not suitable for this rim hence he has to change new tyres).

So bad luck

Yes Gilead, potholes, or rather road edge. Curve to the left at night, saw the lights (thought its just one vehicle), but it turned out to be a lorry overtaking another one. Had to go off the road since I was at about 80-90kmph. The road edge damaged left side front and back rims. Now running both the rims at the back.

Unni: You should go after the ZXi guys; quite a few of them would be replacing their stock steel wheels, so you can lay your hands on them.

On the other hand, i remember Nair quoting his dealer as saying he has lots of steel wheels causing storage issues and that's why he stuffed them in his cars boot. May be you should check with the Payanoor dealer (or is it Cochin!!)

Steel rims - most probably all dealers may be having this as seen that most of the ZXi cars rims being upgraded to alloys. Also you may be able to find one in any alloys shop other than the dealer.?

Yes, that seems to be the best way to do it. I'm an ZXi guy sticking to my steel wheels!!

Its always a night drive. Will drive out from office by about 11pm so that I'm home by lunch time

And hey just because I'm logged on to TBhp doesn't necessarily mean I'm at office

J.D.Power/Ford Ikon

Source:Business standard report

part of the report reads as:
+

Ford Entry level sedan, the Ikon scored highest in the entry mid-size segment according to J.D.Power Asia Pacific 2009 India Initial Quality Study (IQS).

Despite new entrants and growing competition, Ford iKon has come out as a clean winner in its segment with a score of 90 pp 100 in this J.D.Power study. This score is a splendid result with industry scores averaging at
123 pp100 in the entry mid-size segment for overall new vehicle quality in India.

The Ford Ikon has been ranked no.1 coming ahead and much stronger in the initial vehicle quality compared to the Maruti Suzuki Dzire 115pp/100)
and TATA Indigo (142pp/100) in the entry mid-size segment.

Earlier this year both Ikon and Endeavour had won top scores for 2009
J.D.Power vehicle dependability in the entry mid-size and SUV segment respectively.

This emphatic double delight for Ikon from the 2009 J.D.Power Asia-Pacific
Vehicle dependability study and now the initialy quality study reaffirms
Ikon's top notch quality and its status as the most reliable brand in its
segment.
