I would not recommend the HTC as HTC sales and support are pathetic. Apart from that you can choose anyone depending on cost and other features. Yes the Nexus supports only 16Gb so if you think you wouldn't need any more storage that 16GB then that's a good choice, otherwise you will have to look at Samsung's.

Between the LCD and AMOLED, i have been using Samsung Galaxy S i9003 LCD since last 6 months and its fine for general use although in sunlight it gets difficult to see whats on the screen. I believe AMOLED will help in such cases. Also pictures on AMOLED look better and sharper. Get into a store and check out the difference.

I am back with a few doubts again. Earlier i had posted a query regarding purchase of my new Android Fone but that never happened due to some other circumstances. Now I am back and plan to pick my fone in next 2 weeks. I have short listed the 4 attached fones and their prices as per flipkart. Now, I really am not a very fancy user, So if i can save almost 2k by going for a sLCD fone over AMOLED, i dont mind. But my question here is, IS AMOLED display really worth paying that extra? I understand from the tech spec that all 4 fones run on almost same hardware spec with minor changes here and there. I really like the Nexus S but the absence of memory card slot is worrying. What happens in case the memory gets corrupt or something? I dont know if it really happens, just asking. In case of my current fone, i lost my memory card to corrupt data twice and buying a new memory card an easy way out.

Awaiting inputs. The only other fone i have considered outside the 3 Samsung family listed above is the HTC DESIRE S. I like that fone particularly for its built quality.

Hey h@r$h@l

I was in the same dilemma regarding Galaxy S AMOLED vs LCD. But at that time there was only1k difference between the two.

I went for the AMOLED, since not only it has a much better display, its much lighter, and more importantly it has more internal memory (16GB) and better tech specs. Well worth the extra 2k you will spend over LCD, IMO. Moreover Letsbuy is shipping AMOLED with Gingerbread stock. There are no GPS issues as well (unlike other Galaxy series phones with Froyo and older releases).

Hey,

Thanks for your response. I too think AMOLED makes more sense than sLCD after reading a few posts and reviews on various sites. A few more questions:

1. Hows the battery life?
2. Does it have flash for taking pics?
3. What Android OS is it running on? 2.2 or 2.3?

Regards,

Battery life is good, my Galaxy LCD lasts 2 full days if i use it mostly for phone and occasional browsing and music. If i use the other features and the screen heavily it lasts one day.

Mine does not have flash and i don't think even the AMOLED one does not have flash.

Mine runs 2.2 and also AMOLED runs 2.2. Only Galaxy S2 runs 2.3 at the moment.

Regards,
1. I get around 1.5-2 days on full charge with occasional GPRS and Gaming.
2. Nope.
3. I bought it from Letsbuy a month back and it had Android 2.3.3 (GingerBread)

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Samsung launches galaxy note, super smartphone and tab 7.7.
Galaxy note does look like a niche product suitable for those looking for something between bigger tab and smartphone

Samsung GALAXY Note - Samsung Mobile

Hello Friends,

Guess its great news for SGS2 heavy users. Samsung launched the 2000mah battery kit with a redesigned back cover (that improves Heat distribution also). The model is battery ref EB-K1A2EBEGSTD.

[PREVIEW] Samsung galaxy S 2 2000mah battery by samsung - xda-developers

The tester seems to have ~30-35% increase in battery life. Only issue is its available in select stores in the EU, dont know when will it make our way :(

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

What is the price in India? Since shipping + customs might be expensive.

My Bad Invisible, I miss-took/read your post back then, I thought that it was a non-Samsung battery that your were talking about. But, thanks for ordering it, will be eagerly awaiting your review.
