Moxier Mail is another alternative. Try the apps first for 30 days and then buy it.

How do i recover my phone to working state? Please help.

Is the phone still recognised in odin?

Is odin latest version for your phone? (check samfirmware.com).

If so, try with a different firmware version.

On unix (and linux) systems, "root" is the system administrator.

Android is a linux system.

By 'rooting' your android device, you obtain administrator priveleges on your phone.

You need if you

(a) want to modify it
(b) you want to change or install system files

Some apps, (like certain apps which allow you to take screen shots), camera / radio apps etc. require you to have root access.

For a normal phone usage, where you use your android device like any other phone, you do not require root access.

How you root your device depends on the device and version of android it is running. Please note that Rooting voids the warranty. Flashing a new "stock" ROM from the manufacturer "de-roots" the device, in most cases, and if successful, the manufacturer cannot find if the phone was rooted or note. (you need to un-install and erase all traces applications requiring root access).

Yes, I tried with all combinations (uppercase, lower case, etc). But the error is same (Unable to open connection to server). Tried all our company webmail servers. From Google support forums I find that this is a long standing problem.

Yes, i did try all options. I used another ROM to flash and it worked. While the screen was white, Odin3 v1.82 recognized it. 1.81 and 1.83 were not recognizing it. Its all good for now.

Thanks

+1

Also one of the biggest advantage imo is the ability to make all apps ad-free. That's the single most reason i root my phone. Also the ability to use Titanium backup makes one root the phone.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

headers bhai,

you can do this:
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/gadget...ml#post2447404

Like BSB says, for samsung, it takes 3mins to "format" your phone back to OEM installation - no one can figure jack, even a service center! So don't bother too much. Its your phone. enjoy it the way you want to!

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

One of my office colleague has a budget of 20k Max.
He wants a good android phone within his budget and willing to wait for 2 -3 months.
Are there any new upcoming launches ?
I had suggested him Galaxy S and Google Nexus as his priority is Samsung only and no phones from Nokia, HTC, Motorola or Blackberry either.
He will be upgrading from Nokia N70.
Also his cousin is flying from US in the month of December does it make sense importing any cell from US considering the warranty factor.
If yes, which one would you suggest ?

Been using Samsung Galaxy S since last year and must say its been an awesome phone. But I guess its old now, Nexus S too is a good choice but none of the online stores in India are selling it now and listing it as discontinued (my brother wanted to buy one recently) instead he is now closing on LG Optimus Black which is within 20k.

Rumors are that Google/Samsung is going to launch Nexus Prime in a month or two and if its indeed true, then the prices of Galaxy S2 is sure going to drop and since your friend can wait for 3-4 months S2 would be a good buy.

You can even drag the gmail icon from the app drawer and drop it over the dock bar icon you want to replace.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Guys, if any one is looking to buy a tablet now with a budget of 30K take a look at http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_TF101/.

A friend of mine has this and i must say its awesome. The only downside i found would be the lack of 3g. Its a true laptop replacement.
