Couldn't set up Auto-pay as the same wasn't available for the said card. But have added the card as a Biller.

Joining fees is already billed in the statement after the card was activated.
After multiple tries, customer service team agreed OTP will not be received for BSNL numbers which is pathetic.
Hence, I have asked to update my alternate jio number and the response was it will take 4 days for them to update.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Am in the middle of a terrible experience with RBL Bank.

I had applied for the Zomato Edition Credit Card on Zomato app, which was promptly sanctioned with a handsome credit limit and delivered after KYC.

Now came the trouble. In their records and in the welcome kit, they messed up my name and mentioned my name in this format:

<MIDDLE NAME> <SURNAME> <FIRST NAME>

So when the envelope containing the credit card & welcome kit came, it was addressed to my Father!!!

These days everything is digital through Aadhaar based KYC, I don't know how can make such a serious mistake!!! No other credit card of mine from PSU and Private banks have such a serious mistake. After receipt of the card, I immediately called up their Customer Care and raised a complaint. I was assured that the complaint will be resolved in two days.

Next day I get a call from RBL Bank Customer Care quoting my complaint no and said that for any name change/correction, I need to visit the nearest RBL Bank branch!!! I argued that it was not my mistake that they mentioned my name incorrectly and that they should get it corrected instead of asking me to waste my time. Realizing that I was talking to an executive who was only taught to keep parroting lines, I asked her what was the address of their bank branch in Mangalore. I will never forget her tone of her reply - "You can find out from Google, OK??" I thought what the hell and as I was about to speak further, she cut the call!!!

Later I found out that their branch in Mangalore was closed a long time ago and the nearest branch is in Mysore - nearly 300 kms away!!!

When I e-mailed them about this, they said that is the only way to get my name corrected. I asked them to send an executive for that branch to get this issue resolved - which was not replied to. I told them I don't need the card in that case and asked them to close the card.

It's been more than a week now, and they are not closing the card, instead they are trying to coax me not to close the card and continue with the incorrect name. The calls invariably end with a 'we will arrange a call from our superiors to resolve the issue'.

I have disabled usage of the card by temporarily blocking the card and it's proving to be a headache dealing the customer care of this silly RBL Bank!!!

Usually a bank allows the option to courier the required documents for any changes related to a credit card (in addition to the walk-in-to-a-branch option). For some scenarios, they might allow the signed document copies to be sent via email too (recently ICICI allowed signed dispute forms to be sent via email). Check your T&C if they allow it. But 100% sure the bank won't allow any option to get this done over calls; no matter how high up you go.

If no such options, unless you have incurred any charges (joining or annual fees), just let the card not see any usage for a year and in line with the RBI guidelines, they will have to close the credit card in a year. Unnecessary headache but atleast there's a way out.

Yes, they do and in fact, I clearly remember I got my dad's address details & name correction done on his Citibank credit card by sending self certified, scanned copy of his aadhaar card to Citibank Customer care by e-mail.

With RBL bank in my case, at some stage, I had asked them if I could send them a scanned copy of my PAN or Aadhar card for my name correction - which was denied. In fact there is no need for it, because these days credit card applications are e-verified through Aadhar - which gives them the correct name & address details as in the Aadhar.

The bone of my contention was that it was the bank's mistake that they could not record my name correctly(as mentioned on my Aadhar) and it was their duty to correct it - not put me in trouble by asking me to waste my entire day by going to Mysore.

However, I have read horrible reviews about RBL bank's customer care & escalation matrix. It seems no one cares in that bank and the "You can search from Google, OK?" comment just shows how inept their customer care really is.

I now received an e-mail confirmation that the card has been closed with further lies - that they have been unable to connect to me!!!

Anyway, Good Riddance RBL Bank!!! I did not know Zomato had tied up with Zomato for the Edition Card.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Is there any benefit to using credit card bill payment apps, such as cred, or should I just use the bank's default payment gateway?
The cred coins seem to be worth nothing from my limited experience with the company, and I definitely wasn't comfortable giving them access to my messages and emails.
Any other apps/websites that give out some benefit?

Thank you. Yes the devaluation of HDFC cards on this is bad. Will validate on AXIS card if this is still a thing so we can hit the 1L spends to get the point bonus too. I will try to check the platforms you recommended.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

A heads up to people who are looking for Axis Magnus Card:

1. Not all your expenses may show up in the Travel Edge rewards page for some reason. A bunch of my expenses are not showing up even though later date expenses from same vendor (e.g., Swiggy) do appear in the statement.

2. They round up your points because of which you loose anywhere between 5-46% - if the transaction amount is low) of points. Example: If you spend INR 372, (per INR 200, 12 points) you should get 22 points but you will get 12 points only. This amount adds up when you make large number of transactions.

Overall, I have lost around 844 points this month because of 1 and 2. Reason 2 is minor but because of 1 I have lost out a lot. As per my calculation I should have got 3,2XX points but they have credited only 2,4XX points.

So much for a premium card.

P.S: Will share an update if they show up at a later date.

Woah! While the second point is understandably been concealed in one of the million T&Cs the your first point is alarming. it isn't possible to track if each of these expenses have been taken into account or not!
Also does anyone know how and when do the bonus 25k rewards points credited ? I've got my first statement and spent about 200k in the first month, yet to see these being reflected in my Traveledge portal. That that the Traveledge ortal itself isn't working is a different issue.

Right on all counts. I've restricted Magnus to travel edge and int'l transactions. It takes them between 2 days to 2 weeks to award points(not 25k) and I just don't have the bandwidth to verify. The round off is another major turn off. The many reviews you see on the web just don't factor this in. 3rd being the 25k. Again, takes them 90 days, the biggest turn off.

SBI cashback and SC Ultimate are my main stay now. They credit the points and cashback within a day or two and are very easy to follow.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

With all the hype around Magnus, a routine sales call from Axis card team, turned into a Magnus card in flat one week's time. I do have Infinia and used it heavily for the past one year. Axis card interface is not intuitive. I have a flipkart axis card and Privilege card. They have charged renewal fee for privilege card though i have crossed the transaction threshold for fee waiver over 2 times. Anyway I am closing the privilege card.

With all this confusion about the reward point credit and Rs.10000 fee, I am just feeling I have rushed into this card. And bummer is addon was refused with the primary application. Now I have to find a way to apply for addon with physical application form - any pointers from experts would be great.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Can someone help me on how to utilize the points in Citibank Indian Oil card. I only see CashBack for which I need to have 10K points which I don't and the other is Miles Transfer which is of no use to me.

Is there a possibility of any other option where I can use my card points ?

Brace yourself for more disappointment. As per the below article, the 25k points for the 1lakh spend is applicable only from the second calendar month onwards.

Caution: If you’re applying for the card & approved this month, note that the milestone benefit is applicable only from the upcoming month. Your approval month (or) the card setup date is the date when you receive the “card approved” sms.
Easy way to double check on this is to look at the issue/expiry date printed on your card, just add +1 to it. If your expiry date is something like 05/27 (May / 2027), ideally your spends are eligible from June.

Redeem it for fuel. Fill up from any IOC Pump, pay normally with card and then redeem points for fuel by logging from your account.
