I checked the file format, bitrate and sampling paramenters of all tracks in those folders and they are Ok as per compatibility list given in owner's manual. Also you cannot navigate/browse the floders if a track is playing without interrupting the play.

On a positive note it works like a breeze with iPod (I'm using iPod Nano 5th gen). Again as per owner's manual my iPod model does not figure in compatibility list.
You can navigate folders/tracks while the music is playing without interrupting it.
Thanks Beast. I have ordered 16GB pen-drive today.
Is it possible to connect center arm rest on new swift?
Does it have a cup-holder at center. I checked some old thread and saw that it will be fitted in that cup-holder.

re: Maruti Swift : Test Drive & Review

Hi, I am getting delivery of my ZDi in 1-2 days, and I have the below list in mind for accessories.

1) Tyre upgrade
I am confused whether to cough up some fund and go for a tyre upgrade or not. can someone throw light on the highway performance of the stock 185/65 R15 stock MRF tyres? How is the grip, and are they too noisy?

I plan to do a lot of highway trips. I haven't driven the ZDis in highway, but VDi stock tyres were inadequate and had terrible road noise.

2) Underbody coating:
Considering 3M underbody coating with 5 yr warranty. The question is, can I go for this even after some time, say 1-2 years later?

3) Paint sealant coating:
I know team-bhp does not recommend teflon coating. I am considering a paint sealant coating from 3M. They say it will seal the shine and I should get it done with a new car.

4) Reverse sensors:
Need advice on a 4 or 6 sensor setup. My car is torque-blue color, can I get the sensors painted in the same color? I don't want the voice assist, a simple beep with distance indication would do for me. I prefer a IRVM replacement rather than clip-on. I am looking for something similar to the one we get with Scorpio, so that I don't loose the anti-glare functionality of IRVM.

5) Bluetooth kit:
Looking for a system with auto-mute functionality. Have a parrot system installed in 2 of our cars in the family. One conked up last month and we could not find a service centre. has anyone tried any other brands?

6) Sun Film:
3M CR70 on windshield and some cheaper ones on the sides. Will be done at a later stage.

185 is a good size for highway drives. But there could be road noise. I would have suggested an upgrade if it was a L or V variant, I will NOT upgrade 185s just because of road noise.

You can, but why delay it? I advice you get it done ASAP. Since two years is a lot of time and people keep the car usually for 4-5 years, do you think it is worth doing it after almost half of the car's life with you? Remember that, the car will go thru 2 years of rain, water & slush in the mean time.

Yes, for BEST results, it's done ASAP after delivery of the car.

4 sensor is more than enough. NOT a good idea to get it painted, the sensors may NOT work correctly if the job is poor. Try for some brands which already have the painted ones. Red Soul is one such non-expensive brand.

I prefer 3M / Llumar for sides too. CR 70 for the windshield is a good option.

I switched to 195/60 R15 BS Turanza ER60 as soon as I got delivery of my ZDI in Jan. The stock Goodyear's felt slightly better than the MRF's I had experienced in my cousin's ZDI. The biggest drawback with the OEM tyres is their lack of grip even on moderate speeds of 70-80, they start screaming in protest at the slightest of enthusiastic driving. Further, once I tried testing the braking from 70-0, and to be honest it was plain scary. ABS kicked in but no traction at all from the tyres. That was certainly the deciding factor for me to upgrade as soon as I get delivery of my car.

The difference is tremendous after upsizing to Turanzas, be it braking, handling or road noise. I have done about 4k's on these tyres and I am completely satisfied with them. The cost was about 10.5k for switch from OEM. Your's will be used mostly on highways, so I suggest you must upgrade asap.

The size (185/65 R15) is perfect for the car. But the ZVTV is not up to it. I have driven a little more than 6K and have found the tyres lacking in grip, very hard and very very noisy on the highway.

A tyre change highly recommended. You can select a suitable tyre in 195/60 R15 since a direct replacement in 185/65 R15 is not available. I am waiting for XM2.

If you're keen on doing it, do it ASAP.

Again, If you're keen, do it ASAP. Don't wait till the hard water takes away the clear coat and wrong washing techniques leave swirls. Also, reduce the number of wash each month. The less, the better. Most times, a quick wipe with a very good duster (California/ Jopasu) will do.

No idea on sensors. The ORVMs are good but the IRVM is puny and the small rear windshield doesn't help either.

No idea. I read a post here that the MGA kit is also no good.

Don't have them in the car. But I miss it on the windows during afternoons when the sun is at an angle. But the AC doesn't need help. It is quite competent.

re: Maruti Swift : Test Drive & Review

A question to all New Swift DDiS owners here!

I recently drove my friend's Swift ZDi while we were on a trip. I was driving my Jazz before I drove the Swift and we exchanged cars for a few KMs. While I was enjoying everything about the Swift, I felt something really strange in the car. There was unusually high level of vibration from the clutch pedal and I could feel it when I keep my left leg over the pedal without riding it. I felt the same when I took a TD of the New Swift which had done about 4900KMs. My friend's Swift had covered about the same and its less than 2 months old.

I want to know if this is normal in the new Swift or something that needs to be checked. From what I know, too much vibration on the clutch pedal is not really a good thing and would require immediate attention!

I have a ZDI driven around 2200 Kms. I won't call it a vibration, it just a pulsating sensation when you keep a very light foot on the pedal without depressing it. Same pulsating feel which is in sync with the pulsating clutch can be felt when you grab the gear shift knob. This has also been posted somewhere earlier in this thread itself.

Experienced the same during my test drive. Put the question in this forum. GTO replied and said it is the feature of an abused test drive vehicle. It should not be in your friend's car. Ask him to contact Service Centre.

It can be called pulsation too. But as much as I know, its not a good sign if you feel pulsations from the clutch!

Please correct me if I am wrong!

When I TD'ed the Swift, I thought the car was abused. But I was quite surprised when I felt the same in my friend's brand new car.

I am waiting for some more replies from the owners. My friend is planning to get it checked by the MASS folks today. I will keep you all posted!

Well I have not experienced anything like that in my swift. Will check it again the next time I am in Hyderabad.

Noticed the same issue on the Vento Highline TDi test drive car that had run 6000 kms approx. I havent seen this on any tata / fiat / hyundai test drive cars, and not even on the ford fiesta of lathangi ford that had done 52k km as on oct'11.

A test drive car is a good indicator on how well a car can stand up to abuse.
