These are dealer level customization. Check the comments. But it does look dope and fab. Silencers are SS which are official accessories sold at some places.

I would envy if this thing pulls next to my Silver INT on a stop light

I wish they had painted the engine black as well, that would have given true run for its money to Street Twin.

Same thoughts bro, 1st thing when I saw the image was the engine casing.

All in all. Twins are really doing well for RE. And kudos for the team to make such a product at an attractive price.
My cousin who was a die hard RD350 fan till now is on a verge of booking the INT.

Probably once the BS6 conversion is done, they'll get us a Himalayan 650? I'd be very interested in that.

Not any time soon. It needs a whole new frame, and i will be damned if i buy it within the first two years of launch. Expect one sometime in 2022/23.

It will also be way heavier than most other 650's in the market. The interceptor is already what, 220?

Not for me.

If the improvements and learnings they had from Interceptor is to go by, may not be a very bad deal unlike other launches.

I have seen Interceptors belting at 140 kmph, seems quite capable even if heavy.

To go offroad, not on the highway exclusively.

Thrissur-based ‘Legundary Custom Built is offering after market belt drive system for Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. The chain kit is replaced by the belt drive which they claim improves transmission efficiency. Cost 15,800 with three year replacement warranty.

Wouldn't recommend it as belt drive is known to be slightly heavier and hence lesser wheel horse power. Stick to good old chain drive.

They are claiming 44 bhp at wheel versus 39 bhp with chain after dyno test. Expensive. You can get four chain kits 80,000 kms usage.

Hi, this is your guardian angel from the future with a very important message.

Neither you nor 'Legendary Customs' are as equipped as the collective heads of the manufacturers R&D department.

So leave the chain as is and dodge the headaches that you'd surely face going for alternatives.

You could use the money to actually buy fuel and ride the motorcycle to places as should be intended, what say?

P.S. If you do some research about such conversions and the feasibility of running niche technology to far away lands, you'd understand why I'm recommending against such jugaad's.

Cheers.

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

I wanted higher, narrower handlebars so fitted a Honda Unicorn BS4 handlebar because it has the width I wanted and the maximum height that can be fitted without changing brake hose and cables.

Fitting was straightforward apart from having to drill a locator hole for the throttle/brake body clamp. The handlebar clamps are wider on the Interceptor than the Unicorn so some knurling is exposed (photo). The Interceptor bar end protectors do not fit and the Unicorn ones are too weak to be any use so I left the bar ends open.

Incidentally there was a useful weight reduction (any weight reduction is useful!).

Dubious claim. Belt drives have various advantages over chain drives, such as lower noise, lower maintenance, lower stretch. But higher efficiency is not one of the benefits. Belt drives have a higher power loss compared to chain drives.

So their claim of greater power at wheel must be taken with scepticism.

This is true for flat belts and v-belts, where the belts are susceptible to slippage. The toothed belt (or) synchronous belts used in motorcycles are highly efficient (slightly more than chain drives as they are lighter and less mechanical friction).

However, as others mentioned earlier the R&D folks at RE know better and it is not wise to change such critical components.

Sir, thats your Versys 650 weight playing on your mind. Himalayan Is not that bad, Kerbing at approx 182 odd kgs. I dont mind a 650 Himalayan if they can keep it sub 210 as the 650 engine and gear box is an art of engineering. Advantage i see it over conventional 650 imports is cheap cost of repairs even if we drop is a few times. AND it will not be way heavier then most other 650s as long as benalli trk 500 is there. Wait, its not even a 650.

No! No!! Not there. Try and reduce weight elsewhere, but handlebar WEIGHTS are given for a reason.
