Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Was rear-ended by a Xylo at a Signal. It must have hit me at about 30kmph. While the EcoSport Brakes are really good the Xylo brakes are really bad, but the guy was probably thinking of jumping the signal. Told the Traffic police guys to trouble the guy a bit and take his license. I left the scene.

The Wheel Cover was scratched and the boot body pushed in at a place behind the spare wheel. The space just below the Titanium Logo was pushed outward and paint and body had cracked.

Have comprehensive Zero Dep Insurance, but decided to get the work done at the local garage.

Work was fine, cant detect that anything has happened.

Reasons for choosing a local garage over the Authorized guys.

1) Total cost of repair was Rs. 4000.
2) Avoided NCB loss.
3) Got car back in 2 days over the weekend. Much faster turnaround. Work was done even on the weekend.
4) Pickup and drop from home.
5) Paint job / colour matches the original. The Authorized guys had struggled with the colour of the spare wheel cover.
6) Though I would have got a new Dickey panel if I claimed insurance the Glass would have been removed and refitted and these jobs never match the factory finish.
7) Good for the environment to repair rather than replace.
8) No claim forms to be filled.

Will post photos later.

"BD82563" does not seem to be a valid VIN.
The first digit of the VIN is the year and for 2013 is should start with D.

Check post no 12 in Wildon's thread
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/buying...cture-vin.html

I suggest you clarify the VIN with your SA again.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Hi folks,

I am interested in buying Ford Ecosport Titanium(O) and was planning to book one. However, on enquiry from Jayshree Ford, Ranchi I was told that the booking amount for the car has been enhanced to Rs 1,00,000/- by the dealership management. However, the Ford Customer Care has denied the same. A reply on my complaint to MD ford and MD Jayshree Ford is still awaited.

The dealing sales manager Mr Shashi Chhetri is also rude, disinterested in providing information and has lackadaisical attitude.

Any other ideas to deal with the situation? !

Many of us have experienced this kind of attitude from the dealers. Ford and the dealer will always be in separate lines. The best thing you can do is take the written copy of what Ford said to the dealer. In case it wont work out, say you will escalate this to Ford and publish it across the media. This kind of attitude is expected for a product that's in demand. Wait for couple of months and they will come to your house to take the booking without any booking amount.

The booking amounts, cancellation charges are left upto the dealer by Ford. Do you have another Ford dealer around?
What are the cancellation charges of this dealer?
Please dont book with such a high booking amount, since the experience of so many people here with Ford dealers has been absolutely pathetic. No sense getting tied down by such a huge amount of money paid upfront. You are almost guaranteed to have a pathetic buying experience (a taste of which you already got).

If you still want to then please check the cancellation charges. If those are nominal (3k here in NCR), you *may* consider it. Dont go for ANY verbal assurances at all (if they say we will not charge cancellation charges or such, take written agreements).

I agree with you, cruise control and 6th gear would be a fantastic.
The 6th gear will boost up mileage by another 2 to 4 kmpl.

As Jollypope pointed out above. The VIN doesnt seem correct. Some mistake in noting it down? "D" sounding like "B" or something? Probably "DD"? Translates to Nov 2013.
Going by your VIN, its a March 2011 vehicle. Definitely not

Just my 2 cents.
The Duster now is at the fag end of its life and badly needs a face lift.
The clutch feels very hard and the steering wheel very vague.
Pathetic after sales service

The new improved duster face lift is down the corner, you might regret when the new duster zips by you.

Advantages of the new duster.
1.better clutch
2.better looking alloy wheels
3.improved dashboard and instrument cluster.
4.better controls.
5.the audio controls are actually steering wheel mounted this time
6.and hope their pathetic after sales service improves

Hey!
You were totally right! Just called back to confirm. I did hear" D" as "B" .So that's "DD82563" translating to a November'13 manufactured car. Thanks a lot for your help bhpians!

I think your SA misquoted DD as BD. DD would be November 2013. B cant be the first alphabet for EcoSport. Also going by the number 82563, it would be recently manufactured vehicle and cant be June 2013 manufactured one. Call Ford Customer care 044-67442400 and check with them directly.

I am very sorry to hear about the incident

1.Did they do the same 2k technology coating?
2.Did they use sikkins or dupont?
3.Have they painted the whole tail gate or part of it?
4.Did they do the High solids (HS)clear coating on top of paint?

Hi - could you elaborate a bit more on the "2k" and "HS clear coat" bits? And in qn 2, are those brands of paint? Any preferable one?

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Hi Folks,

Regarding my earlier post on the Jayshree Ford, Ranchi. I wish to inform everyone that I received a personal call and all the issues were sorted out in a professional manner.

I must say the promptness is praiseworthy. The dealers are also a troubles lot as such huge bookings were not expected and Ford will need some time to handle the same.

So they are offering a lower booking amount to you now?

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

So as Murphy would wish, the delivery of my Blue Ecosport got stuck at Elite Ford, Bangalore due to a stupid policy that they are claiming i.e. you can only buy insurance from us and not for outside. I don't believe this shit but not willing to budge. Their quote of Royal Sundaram is 34.5k, while the online quote comes to just 20k, why would anyone pay additional 14k? And their own guys have no clue.

Have written to gm.sales@eliteford.co.in and write2md@ford.com email ids. Let's see if they respond.

Anyone else had the same experience and what did you guys do? What about the incidental expenses and standard fitments? Those also forced on all customers?
